I kinda like the mirrors.. I just did my 1st o/c and what a bitch! It was on real tight, but I was able to get it off(busted a few knuckles)! As for the dealer doing oil changes, thats ok. I don't trust those guys to look at my truck, everytime I have something fixed at the dealer something else seems to go out shortly after.
Plus now I have the Fumoto and it's so easy to change!

I believe it is from all of the first time oil changes on pickups. After the first oil change it isn't as bad. My filter from the factory was a bitch to take off. I think that is why all the filter problems

Yep -- I have one of those too, and the only time I ever use it is when I remove an oil filter from a new vehicle. All subsequent oil filters come off with no problem using a standard "cap type" wrench.

FYI -- if you've punched too many holes in the filter to get a good "bite" on it anymore, you can just go ahead and punch off the entire cannister of the oil filter. Then you can use a little screwdriver and a hammer, get ahold of the the little holes in the mounting plate, and gradually tap it off in a counterclockwise direction.

i feel for you man, it should be a crime

the overtightening itself isn't a probem, that's what wrenches are for...the tight location itself isn't a problem, that's cured by hand-tightening

put them both together, and an overtightened filter with very little room for a wrench handle and hand to turn it--that's the problem

at least you won't have to go through it twice...so long as you do all your changes

edit: that wrench posted above--does it accept a nut driver? something that i could put a long ratchet extension to from below probably would have spared me the hassle! ha i had 2 kinds of wrenches and was wishing i had something like i described

Sounds like my old 91 ford probe gt where the repair manual said you have to take the passanger halfshaft off to get the alternator out. (not me though) Darn Fords!
