Step bars on 4x4's

I've been looking and can not decide. What about you guys? Do you like them on or off better? To me a truck looks higher with them off, but does it look better…

Thoughts?

i use mine everytime i get in the truck. Otherwise you will eventually tear your seats up by dragging yourself in and out of the truck.

I love my OEM step bars. Use them everytime I get in/out. Besides, the wife would need a ladder if I didn't have them.

I had mine on my truck for almost 2 years. i just took them off to see what it would look like and i loved the look. i think it made my truck look taller.

mine are great for our parents and grandparents getting in and out, as well as for shorter people who ride with me

they haven't yet been a problem off-road, but i don't drive off-road hard very often

i think they look nice, but i like the clean lines of the pickup without them better...function wins out over aesthetics for now

i have mine on but i think it looks better with them off i just have a hard time getting in with out them:thumbsup:

I didn't want to take mine off since I wanted them on in the first place because my mom, who's 5'1", wouldn't be able to get into the truck without them, and it makes it easier to get in and out in a tight parking space. I hate the thought of dinging up all of the Nissans and Infiniti's at work because I accidently pushed the door into the door of another vehicle because I was struggling to get into the truck without step bars. :( Most of the plant directors and department managers park in this same area of this particular parking lot, too.

I like them better off, but the wife wouldn't be able to get in there with out them, so they are staying on.

I use mine getting in and out but what I like most is that the cars next to you in parking lots can't leave door dings on your truck because their doors hit the steps instead.

I use them everytime to get in or out... As previously posted is saves wear and tear on the seats. It also allows for the young ladies to get in easier. I do however like the look of the truck better with them off.

I have the Amp Research power steps for the same reason of not liking the truck looking lower with the tubular steps. When they are retracted you can't even see them.

allrsdup Jul 15, 2006 03:12 PM

how much are they?

Are you asking about the AMP Research step? If so they are around $1395.00MSRP but you can find them cheaper...

Unfortunately I had a little accident and destroyed my black factory OEM passenger side step bars for a 2004 F-150 FX4. Would anybody be interested in getting rid of their step bars? How much would you be willing to sell them for?
