Suggestions needed about which wax to use on a black truck
I just tried using Nu-finish, and it isn't working that great. I've used this wax before but never on a black paint job. It doesn't blend in well, and shows swirls (all by hand btw). I liked this wax because it lasts a long time, and protects the paint well, but it just isn't cuttin it.. I did about half of the truck so far and took a break, I guess I'll go ahead and finish it, then try something else later.
I like to use
Meguiar's NXT wax, but I don't have a black truck (mine's silver). I used to use it on my red Accord when I had it, really does a nice job. Maybe someone who's got a black 150 can give you their impressions.
^^^ thats what i use on my black truck works GREAT its the best wax i have ever used it goes on easy and comes off really easy i suggest applying it to the truck in 2 parts the bed then the cab and front end, in other words apply the wax to the bed then wipe it off then apply to the cab and fenders and hood then wipe off, and to be sure of no swirls use 2 microfiber towels one for the first wipe then after wiping down the entire section wipe with the clean towel
I would suggest Wolfgang Sealant. I use it on my wifes black escape and it is great!! It gives a great depth and wet look.
The key to getting a great wet look is the surface preperation for the wax or sealant. By this I mean the clay baring, swirl remover, glaze, etc.
It all depends how **** you are about your truck!!

I use NXT as well. Nebraska, did you clean the other half of the hood on that red car? Which of those 4 products (Clay, swirl remover, glaze, and WG sealant) will bring out the biggest improvement in order from most noticeable to least. I have tried many products and never really notice a huge difference (i.e. turtle wax polishing compound, rubbing compound, etc). Just looking for some things to apply before a coat of NXT.

Josiah,
I only did it that way to show my friend what the difference was. He was amazed!!
I did finish the whole car after that.

Depending on your current finish, but I would clay, Glaze/polish then a sealant (WG, Zaino, NXT, ect.). They all work together to give a great outcome. The extra effort is worth it in the end!!

my truck is only a month old, so I don't think I have much oxidation on it. I just need to make sure whatever I use will take off the nu-finish and be compatible. Who sells Zanio?

Quite a bit of good info over in the Detailing forum. Lots of pro's (or veteran amateurs!).
The NXT is pretty good on black & easy to shine up without swirls. I tried the Meguiars Gold, but NXT seems to be better on black. If you're looking for a professional grade/show car finish (and the work that goes with it), you absolutely cannot beat Zaino products.
If nothing else, check out the How-To section at Meguiars.com. Everyone's got their favorites, but if you definitely get what you pay for on black paint.
Or, head over to RockPick's place and let him shine it up for you.

I haven't been able to find it in any retail stores. Get one of their show car kits and never look back.
DJR 17,
If you have not clayed the truck yet than that would still be my first step. I clay every vehicle I have right away!! You would be suprised how much "stuff" is stuck to the paint even after washing it. The clay bar will remove any wax/sealant you have on now. I have learned a lot form a forum called detailcity.com!!
Nice people and willing to answer any questions. Good luck!!
