Warranty Guru's...Need Info??
 

My dad has a 2004 F-150 4X2 with a history of ABS problems. It's in the shop right now for like the 5th time since he's had it. The concern is it's about 2,000 miles or so away from the end of the warranty. Is there anything you can do to cover this past the warranty expiration?? I told him to contact the regional rep right now and fill him in on the history and the lacking of abililty to fix the dang thing and see what can be done. Anything else you can do?? Thanks guys.

If it has been in the shop for the 5th time for the same problem, then there is no question that this issue will be fixed again on Ford's dime regardless of the warranty expiration. If the problem has been documented every time, then ask for a printout to verify for future work. Five times, that's just silly.:smoke:

Has it been in the same shop 5 times? If so, I'd change shops.

Start asking to see the factory rep. I did it took 6 months and some venting but I got a free warranty out of it. And man did I let him have it. I vented for a half hour before we even drove the truck. I had a transmission issue and the dealer keep saying they had no idea what I was talking about and had never heard of it. The rep new what I was complaining about and gave me a full 75K powertrain warranty. My warranty was about to expire as well. Sometimes getting :mad: is all it takes.

dpeaking from experience and working in service mgmt at dealer level. Ford has a great reputation for "helping" after warranty end on a documented concern. Hopefully you have a good relationship with your dealer. as long as here is solid supporting documentation you will fare just fine. good luck.

Yes, the state has a lemon law but haven't done any research yet. It was the speed sensor on the rear axle three times!! One time was something else and this last time they said it was the left front sensor, but they changed it and the light came on on the way home from the shop!! Not only is the light on but there is a slight pulsing of the brake pedal, as if the ABS is cycling or something. It is very random and very slight, but it's there.

The pedal pulsing is the ABS activating because one of the sensors indicates no wheel movement. That is a bad sensor. There might be something else causing these speed sensors to fail other than having a bad sensor. Five times is a little extreme for the same issue. Sounds like there may be something else they are totally missing that needs fixed. Good luck.
