These K&N instructions are also good for the AF1, just use the blue oil if you want to keep the same color but the red K&N oil is OK too

Service every 50,000 -100,000 miles on street driven applications

The more you clean the thing the more that dust will be allowed into your engine. The more dust that the thing has on it, the better the filtration. I think every 10,000 miles is a bit excessive. I have had mine on for 12k and it is dusty but supposedly the more dust the better. I probably wont clean it until around 50k.

Yeah... I concur. The problem that I face is that I want it to *look* good rather than a dirty blue color... but, you're right, the additional 'stuff' on the filter will aid in better filtration but, I think there's another side to that too... the more 'stuff' that is on the filter, the less air flow.

*shrugs*

Damned if you do.... damned if you don't.

Whatever you do, don't over-oil the filter when you clean it. Excess oil will cause buildup on the MAF sensor and cause problems.
