Towing a 26' boat?

Hey guys just wondering my 04 Fx4 should be able to tow a 26' boat weighing about 6000-6500 pounds with little to know problems correct? Thanks!

I would say GO FOR IT ,my boat weight dry is 6000.And I have a 4x2 and only on take off is it alittle slow but when you get`r going no problem.I have the 5.4 with the 3.73 rearend.:beers:

You are probably on the margin of having too much weight. If doing short distances with few hills you are probably OK. Long trips over steep grades will be a challenge. Under these circumstances you might want a trans temp gage.

I tow a 6500 lb. (actual) 26 foot travel trailer wth no problems. Does the truck work hard? Sure it does. Is it too much weight? No, it is within the tow ratings for my particular truck. Expect single digit gas mileage. I get 8-9 MPG towing the travel trailer.

Oh yeah it will, this is only a 23 footer but I towed it no problems.

I was about to buy a 26ft Stingray with a 502 in it last year...I towed it to the ramp and launched it with my truck and it did perfectly fine. I would say you should be good to go.

That boat is nice Mike, bring it to Pismo (can you even bring it to shore?). :beers:

Isn't the tow package rated to 9900#?

I'm going to be towing a 1978 Bronco, which is right around 6k#, with a heavy trailer which will push me near that 9900# number. I'll be pulling it from Western Kentucky to Louisville (north central)... 2.5 hour trip I figure.

Oooooo....... up the WK.....

You'll experience more frontend/alignment issues after that trip than troubles with hauling it.

I pull a 20 ft boat that is arpound 5000#'s with no problems. I hqve 35's with 3.55 gears. only time the truck struggles is when doing over the mountain to get to the east side and it only goes alittle over 60 pushing 3400 rpms or so. I don't have any proformance mods ecept exhaust that's on there for sound mainly.

It's really not all that bad anymore... they've really thrown some $ at it in the past 5-7 years trying to get it back in shape. It's not good but, then again, if you rolled down it before they started working on it, anything is better than what it was... holy crap man, it was like a haul road -- in fact, I've been down haul roads that were MUCH smoother.

Unfortunately that boat isn't mine. One of my best friend's owns a Yamaha dealership down south by Arizona on the Colorado River. They also sell several kinds of boats and we "demo'd" this one over Memorial Weekend. It was still wrapped in plastic when we took it to the river:rocker: That thing has a 200hp outboard and we were hitting close to 60MPH in a pontoon boat.

I just towed last week-end with the Edge, a 21ft 4500lb travel trailer and got 12.3 towing and 17.5 with out the trailer!!

I usually make several trips on part of it a year. It is much better than it was, still pathetic for what it is with the amount of traffic on it.
