5.13's on stock rubber?

anyone running higher gears on tock rubber? I'm not happy with how long the gears are with the 3.73. I'm also not really into top speed (altho I'd like to be able to go 120) my main thing is acceleration. so I'm thinking about 5.13's since I do very little highway driving. (I'm always doing 100 if I'm on the highway anyway) so mpg isnt a concern at all

Are you kidding? 5.13? I dont mean to be rude but dang.

hell why not? It would actually make my 4th gear (od) usefull since I drive with it off all the time anyway (even on the rare highway trips)

the diff between 4.88's and 5.13's @ 65 is only 200 rpms. the funny thing is the way i drive now with the od off all the time I'd atually be able to drive 200 rpms lower with the od on with the 5.13's (can you tell I'm trying to build a sport truck)

Not a big difference at all, its up to you. You stated before when your on the highway you go 100 mph. Whats the difference at 80 mph? I personaly think its a lot of gear for stock tires.

Talk to bhf150, his name is Brian. He's running 4.88's on stock rubber and a procharger setup. I've been in his truck but have not driven, he'll be able to tell you more.

In that case go for it. Definitly do a little write up on how the truck performs.

Unless you have a 4.6 and the 8.8 rear end, they don't make a 5.13. 4.88 is as high (low) as you are going.

I was under the impression that all the F150's with 3.73 or 3.55 gears had 8.8 rear ends. and only the 4.10 being a 9.75

4.6 = 8.8,5.4=9.75 and the 5.4 with hevayduty package i believe gets 10.25
