I have to let my beloved F150 go...

As of 7pm this evening I have become the new owner of a 2006 Honda Civic EX Coupe (5 speed manual). I am very upset that I have to get ride of my 2005 F150 Reg Cab.XLT 4X4 (4.6l). I truly have enjoyed this truck and would buy another one in a second, but after putting $73.00 in to fill it the otherday (and weekly) and hearing the gov't predictions with the hurricanes this year (gas prices even higher this summer, potentially $5.00 per gal.), I simply cannot afford to drive this truck or any truck at that. I also have become increasingly nervous with the little things that are occurring w/ my truck such as how well this truck will hold up down the road (please don't ask what I mean because we all read this forum and know of the constant little annoyances these trucks provide us and some of the bigger ones such as integrity of the trans/diff). Don't get me wrong though I truly am heart broken to get ride of my truck after only a year, but I refuse to be a slave to the gas companies. I also weighed out the fact that I don't use my truck enough to justify the spending in gas.
Hell, now I can feel confident that 85% of the Honda was made in Dayton, Ohio (Ha Ha, my Honda is more American than the Chevy Trucks). Anyway the journey was fun and I shall return as soon as Ford starts putting more efficient engines in these trucks or the gas prices drop! Happy truckin everyone and please do not use my Civic as a test ramp if you see it in a parking lot somewhere! Thanks! Dan (aka F150Boston)

Go Red Sox!!

Sorry bro that sucks. Yea gas prices are crazy, but in the long run I would rather spend another 100 to keep my truck then drive around another car.

Best of luck with the new 4/5 american car.

Never trust weathermen, I've heard reports of both a better and worse hurricane season. Besides, the true gas price comes from people speculating on what will happen. That is why political unrest, potential storms, potential demand in China , etc all have way more of an impact than what really happens in the world. Yes, gas companies are making a fortune these last couple of years, but more than that are all the jerks that push the prices up.

Sorry about that, needed to vent, didn't want to hijack your thread.

Have fun in the door wedge on wheels.

Way to bring down the country you CHOOSE to live in and support a foreign nation. Just because a vehicle is "built" in America doesn't mean it was "made" in America. A vehicle manufacturer only spends about 14-20% on actually building the a vehicle; the remaining 80-86% goes into the designing, engineering, and testing. When you buy a Honda you're sending that 80-86% right to Japan. Toyota, Honda, Nissan, etc. do not do any design or engineering work in the USA and they do VERY minimal testing here.

I am not a UAW employee, but I do work for Ford Motor Company. I am biased towards Ford, but I never have and never will buy a vehicle from a non-domestic auto manufacturer. I would even buy a domestic vehicle built in a foreign country long before I'd buy a foreign vehicle built right here in the USA.

If you want to weaken your country and economy... buy a Jap car.

... and at the moment for 2006, Lincoln has the highest quality rating over ALL vehicle lines in the world.

* Does not include vehicles built by hand - non assembly line.

I wonder how much you are really saving when you figure in the loss...NO the bath your taking trading in your 2005 F150 on the Honda? I suspect that would have funded the difference in the MPG for quite a while. At any rate...if gas was $5 a gallon I still wouldn't consider driving a Honda Civic.

I truly feel sorry for you....your driving a Civic, you live in a state with tighter gun control laws than CA, you have Kennedy and Kerry for senators and Johnny Damon is a Yankee. Damn thats gotta suck!

On a side note, I can't say I blame you for getting rid of the truck. You said you don't need a truck and you're spending $73 a week in gas? That's almost $4000 a year in gas.

I like my truck and I need it, but I don't go over $200 a month in gas either. If I was spending the money you "were" in gas and needed a truck I'd be looking at a Powerstroke.

congrats on the new car bro. I miss having a five speed that runs on fumes. I've never had anything against "imports" in fact my family owns 3 nissans currently. great cars. same goes for my dads boner for lexus/toyota great cars too. I'm actually starting to like what honda has to offer for the 06-07 year. high MPG and updated body styling? hell I'd drive a nassan/toyota/honda car before I drove any car ford/gm has to offer(post catalytic converter). now trucks on the other hand is a whole different ballgame

I drive a 95 Sunfire most of the time but I still have my screw so its the best of both worlds. My wife drives a 05 Tahoe and in 5 days drop $150 in gas that hurts and I drive further then her and my truck sucks down fuel more then hers. I hope fuel drops soon. You have to do what you have to do, no flaming here.

Good luck with it
