Cool ABS Light/OBD II Question

My ABS light is staying on continuously. I scanned for DTC's with my OBD2 tool no trouble codes.

Does anyone know if you need a special tool to retrieve the ABS DTC's? or should they be retrieved by the OBD2 tool?

Yeah the OBD2 tool won't read ABS codes. You do need a special tool to retrieve the ABS DTC's. Most shops charge about $65 to read the code.

Most generic OBD II scan tools aren't capable of accessing ABS codes.

Before anything, shimmy under the truck and inspect the wiring at the rear ABS sensor. I've seen a rash of F150s lately with broken wires at the rear ABS sensor.

Problem Solved

Problem solved unplugged rear ABS sensor.

Amazing thing is that it was also causing a P2106 Throttle Position Sensor Code error forcing my truck into Failsafe Mode!

Interestingly enough if you follow the troubleshooting steps for verifying the TPS operation the last step says to verify ABS error codes!

Thanks to all that responded.
