Exclamation Oil Consumption

The dealer did an oil consumption test on my 2005 5.4
I've used about 2 quarts of oil In 2,400 miles. I have 15,000 miles on the truck now. I use ford oil and filter only.
Still waiting for the dealer to get back to me on a decision.
They have change the pcv valve, No help.
Just wondering if anybody else is having a problem with there oil, or any suggestions that I can pass on to the dealer.
Any help would be great.
Thanks

That would make me ill. Sorry to hear you are having that problem. I go 3500 miles between oil/filter changes, it just barely moves off the full mark. I have 25,000 miles on it.

My dad has a 1999 f250 crew with a 5.4 2 valve, anyway we had to make a trip to central city KY to bury my grandma when the truck was less than 4 years old, anyway on the way back the oil light came on in the middle of nowhere at like 2am, freaking us out. We had eventually found a store and put in some oil. The dealership said the 5.4 2v engines burn alot of oil. I don't know sounds wierd to me.

I go almost 5,000 miles between changes. At the end of 5,000 the oil is sitting on dang near the exact same spot as when I changed it. No oil burn whatsoever.

I only have just under 6K on mine, but just did the second oil change. I didn't have any noticable burn, so it's not that the engine burns more when new, if they try to pull that BS out on you.

Went to dealer today. oil down an half of quart of oil in about 500 miles.
Dealer changed oil. Manger said he would put together a report and call ford and see what they want to do.
Manger said he has never seen a 5.4 used oil.
So I guess I'll wait and see what happens.....................

I hope it all works out for you. I hate it when a major investment like a truck goes bad like that.

I've never seen a 5.4L use that much oil either.

Typically they won't touch an engine using less than 1 quart every 1000 miles. You're right on the border line of acceptable oil consumption. Hopefully they'll fix it.

I traded my 99 in on the 04. It had 139,000 miles on it and I never once had to add oil in between oil changes. I have 22,000 on the 04 and I have not ever had to add oil to that either.

My Toyota Camry on the other hand, that thing uses a quart every 1000 miles.........POS.
