Got the 37's
 

Okay so I bought the 37's but now I am wondering if I f-ed up. I bought the tires first because they were slightly used and they were cheap. The tires are 37 13.50 17. I figured I mount them on my factory rim and lift it in the summer. I called 4wp today and they said that there is no way that I can clear them with factory rims....He said for me to get a procomp with coilovers and it would clear on a aftermarket rim....Did I mess up?

I would say so... You will be pushing those 37's with a 4.6 :eek: And for sure you will not be able to get those 37's on your factory wheel...

If you're going to hold onto them while you get the lift done and purchase some rims, then no mess up.

You are going to need aftermarket wheels for sure. As for pushing it with the 4.6? Regardless of what motor you have, if you are lifting your truck you are not concerned with speed. I have 35s on my 3v 5.4 and its a total dog. I imagine the 4.6 can't be much worse.

I got some plans for my little 4.6 not big plans, but plans none the less...FATHERFORD and I are going to do a set of ud pullies, e-fans, and programmer (hopefully sct if it comes out soon). i also want to go to 4.56's. That should make me feel about the same as now after I have the lift on or so I hope. I just want to verify that a 37's are a no go on the factory 17x9's? I guess that means I'll need to save more money :(

There is no such thing as a factory 17x9. Your wheels are 17x7.5, which is the reason you would not want to put a 13" wide tire on them.

the picture is the tires sitting next to my truck. and i am dead serious. :( sorry i'm not too up to par with this stuff. When I got my current tires they told me my rims were 17x9 so I was going off of that....

I don't see how you would say you messed up. I think you might be able to go with a 6 inch lift and add a spacer in the front and an add a leaf in the rear. Thats just speculation but I think it would work. I have the FAbtech with a spacer added and I have enough area to go with a larger tire.

This isn't about wheel well space. On the stock rims, that wide of tire is #1 not going to wear correctly, and #2 probably come into contact with the upper a-arm because of the 5.5" of backspace on stock rims, plus the added bulge of the 13" tires on a 7.5" rim. You could try it, I wouldn't.

yeah I understand now I was just under the impression that the rim was a 17x9 so that just shot my whole theory to chit. I guess I am gonna need some new rims too. On the plus side a place I called said that they can get me a procomp 6" for 1450....

I meant they'd probally work if they were a 12.50 since its been done before with a 35.

There IS no way you will fit those on your stick rims. You will need a at elast a 6" lift and new rims to clear those
