Limp Home MODE! AHH! WTF!!

Raining real hard last night when I went on my lunch break. Im on this back alley way and and make a sharp turn and stomp it.. Truck spins thru first, sipins thru second, hits third gear and completly cuts the throttle back. Little wrench on the dash lights up. I try to give it gas and it would hardly go anywhere.. So I pull over and turn the truck off and restart it.. wrench goes away...

I get to work and open oweners manual.. says it the Limp home mode... electronic throttle control...

Why did this happen?
Its never happend before.. I had a full tank of gas and the fuel filter barely has 1500 miles on it...

Any way to disable it?

Trying to have a little fun in the rain and truck won't let me! Sheesh!

Welcom to the club. I've hade this problem for a few months & it has gotten worse, but I have no warranty left. See here.... https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=239079

Maybe a torque management problem. Especially if you hit the rev limiter several times in a row.

Mine did the same exact thing with 1000 miles left on the warranty. Pulled out of work, latched on it, spun, & went into limp mode. I shut it off & it didn't come back on. I didn't think much of it so I never took it in. I'm kicking myself now that I'm out of warranty & it's getting worse, about once a week. My understanding is that the TPS sees a stuck WOT & it goes into forced limited engine power. I'd get it looked at if it's still in warranty. It might never come back but then again it may get worse like mine has.

Did you pull the codes to see if there were any DTC's? I've read about some dealers replacing the throttle body to fix the ETC failure (wrench light) coming on.
