Travel advice with Edge settings.

Hi folks, just bought the edge for my 04 Screw in prep for our big trip this summer. We are towing the camper from eastern Pa across the country and back to places like Rushmore, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Grand Canyon... and others. A 6700 + mile trip in a months time. My question is what kind of changes to timing and such should I be making when we reach higher elevations on the trip? The edge, so far, is a great purchase. Thanks for any help.

Since you are towing AND going to higher elevations, i would not change any settings. I think you will be more than pleased with the stock edge settings. I would also get the latest update before you install it though.

Good LucK!

I would run straight level 2 settings with no customizations. That is what I run towing our 26 foot TT.

Have you noticed a big difference towing with and without the edge? I tow a 27', 5500lb loaded travel trailer. It tows well, but a little more umph wouldn't hurt. Also, do you tow with 87 octane with the Edge?

I have noticed a bit more power, but the best thing (regarding towing) is the improved tranny shifts.

thanks for the replies. I haven't towed with it yet, and intend on running 87 octane. I will load up the stock level 2 before we start the trip.

How much does your fuel mileage drop with trailer in tow?

I have the Edge also, very good mod for towing....

I have a 05 screw with 5.4\3.73 towing 6500# camper

the little box (edge) I think it is a godsend for towing !!!!

I have towed around 1000 miles so far with it

Things i have noticed

I get around 11.5-12 while towing while i was getting 9.5-10 without edge
Trans temps are around 10-15 degs cooler
and does not take long to get up to speed.

I have the Edge at +1.25 on the timing and run 89 octane gas.

I would load the Edge WELL in advance of the trip to make sure that you are familiar with the settings and how to upload and change the programming ....

But thats just me!!

Don't you think thats a lot of timing for only 89 octane?

expy03, I usually get 9.5 to 10 towing, but I haven't checked it lately.

I have been running with it, customized. I was just curious if higher elevations would be better with advance in timing.
