Loaner car

WOW! Nothing like taking a 2006 Screw in to get the annoying bed bounce fixed for the third time and hearing the service manager say bring around the focus! Are you kidding me???? I am leaving a very expensive SCREW with you and all you can do is give me a STINKING FOCUS??? WOW it is like driving a tin can around. Not even that great on gas.

Both times I had my truck at the dealer, they tried to give me a Taurus rental car. I told them i needed a pickup, so they got me one off the Used Car Lot. Worked out pretty good.

Expensive? You have an XLT. Those aren't expensive. And I have a Focus, actually my wife does. It's a great little car, for what it is. Sure, it's nothing compared to an F-150, but still. As far as the great on gas part, I get 30+ in ours, beating the crap out of it. I'd say that's pretty good. Oh yeah, be fortunate that your dealership even HAS loaners. Most dealerships tell the customer to "F" off, only in nicer terms. Good luck getting that expensive truck fixed

EDIT: Oh yeah, I suppose you told the service manager none of this. Just hopped in the Foci and took off. Kept it all inside, eh?

Amen to this statement, I make the Focus and it is a great car despite what the media says about it. I took my truck in and they gave me a Neon, a Neon for God sake.

HAHAHAHA you are right for what it is the focus is a good little car. My point was just that it would be nice if you could leave a truck and get something comparable.

Actually, I never said a word to the Service manager about it. It isn't his fault that a focus is a loaner car. I will have to admit the little thing does have a little pep to it. I can't believe I just said that. HAHHAHAHAHAAHAH

Well I'm pretty sure that my XLT stickered for 36k, so I would put that in the expensive enough category. But as far as getting a fcus, its not that bad when you consider the alternatives, maybe a 10 year old used Geo 3 cylinder sputtering to stay running. Ah, it could be worse.

cdees- please bro do not take this as a flame... Having experience in the field.(i've been in dealer service mgmt for 5 years) Ford as of about 7 years ago did away with their "loaner" provisions and policies. It has made it very tough on dealers, especially ones such as the size that I work at to take care of customers for transportation. Hence the reason we push extended warranties and such to give the customer rental cars when they come in for waranty work and such. It was nice of him to offer you a rental car, He will not be reimbursed from ford but a very small amount. give him thanks when you see him next. hopefully that won't be for awhile! And enjoy the truck. thanks.

During '04 and '05 i had to take my truck to the dealer to get a bunch of stuff fixed, they never offered to give me a loaner, and they said no when i asked for one.
Be glad they gave you something, and while your at it, drive the living bajesus out of it...being a loaner, its a requirement.

When I had mine in for a month back in January, they gave me an X-cab Ranger with 140k miles on it. The engine rattled like a tin can full of rocks. I drove it to work for a week and called them on Friday to enquire whether they would have a wrecker available early the next morning. I told them up front I needed something capable of pulling a boat with a load and that rig wasn't going to cut it without dropping something in the middle of a boat ramp.

They had me swing by that night and pick up an '03 Scab Lariat with 25k miles that just came out of the cleanup shop.

I have had dealerships give me the bottom of the barrel used stuff. I got a Grenada once that smelled like the worst case of BO you've ever smelled in your life with some sticky substance all over the steering wheel and a big old LTD in the 80's that was a straight up G ride. LOL

The dealer I had the butyl pad fixed at set us up with a Hertz rental, paid for by the dealer. Of course that was a GM dealer who may play the game a little differently than a Ford dealer. Both are under the same ownership though.

Ford ain't obligated to give you a loaner - it's in the paperwork somewhere that you signed when you bought your truck. The only folks who are pretty much guaranteed loaners are SVT owners and Lincoln owners. Loaners are very expensive for dealers to insure and maintain, so don't be surprised or insulted if you get a lowball car to putter around in while your truck is in for service.

I just ended up trading my 01 Monte Carlo (what a **** of ****) for a 05 Focus for my girl friend. Its actually a pretty nice little car, but for some reason it was getting 27-28 mpg on 87 oct. and on 89oct. it gets 33-34 mpg . The last time that I had my truck in for service I dropped it off at the owner of the dealerships house (he live about 4 blocks away) and he gave he "his" 2006 F350 6.0L PSD CC SB 4X4 King Ranch to drive . I wasn't going to complain, that was one dam nice truck!! He said that if I ever need any work done again just call the dealership, talk to him and he will take care of it. Its nice having good nieghbors!
