Fog Lights as DRLs
Here's an easy mod I did to make by fog lights come on with the ignition rather than the parking lights and low beams. It turns them into daytime running lamps that stay on whenever the ignition is on (and the fog lamp switch is on). I can still turn them off by turning off the fog lamp swithch.
First, remove the dash end panel on the drivers side and the small rectangular panel that holds the headlight/foglight switch. Both snap off easily, and the panel with the headlight foglight switch is easier to pop out from the back once you snap off the panel at the end of the dash (the one with the heater tube coming out of it).
Then cut the wire that supplies power to the input side of the foglight switch. I have an early 04 model, and on mine that wire is a solid brown wire in the number 2 position of the 12-pin connector. It appears that the wire is in a different pin on later models. See SScully's diagram in
https://www.f150online.com/galleries/...3912&anum=2028 for more specifics.
Then connect the side going into the connector with a wire that turns on and off with your ignition switch. I found one under the drivers side dash that was pink with a white stripe (approx. 12 ga.) and was fairly easy to reach. Tape off the other side of the brown wire you cut so it doesn't short out on anything.
Last, shrink wrap, tape, and reassemble everything.
I also did the mod to ground the fog light relay to keep the fog lights from turning off when the high beams go on: See http://users.cableaz.com/%7Ekinzerfo...og_Lights.html.
