Thumbs up Hypertech

Every thread I have read on here seems to say stay away from hypertech, but a solid reason for this has never been given. In the past I have always heard good things about Hypertech but it seems to be the other way around here. This confuses me because it seems like everyone is having trouble with their Edge programmers. The new Hyperpac looks similar and maybe better than the Edge. So let's hear it, why should I not, or why should I get a Hypertech programmer.

Who is having problems with their Edge? My Edge works flawlessly.

Hypertech in the past hasn't been able to really do what they need to in terms of programming IMO.

The problems I am talking about are the people who have to keep downloading new programs. It just seems to me they should have got it right befor shipping them out. Glad to hear yours works well.

Wouldn't you rather a company come out with new updates to improve their program than just keep the same ole' tune like MOST tuners do? I know that gives me a big piece of mind.

I bought my Hypertech right after I got the truck. I didnt notice a HUGE difference, but then again, I have mine set lower for gas mileage reasons. Hoping after the CAI and exhaust, I can bump it up a little :-)

I dont think there many people that have tried the hyperpac that is new for our trucks. Might be a good tuner! I know in the past I have had hypertech tuners and was not impressed with them, but the new hyperpac possibly is different.

Piece of mind knowing that several had no-starts? Piece of mind knowing that oodles had vibrations on shifts? Piece of mind knowing that countless other isolated problems have been reported?

And, while no one could've predicted or worried about since it just happend, the fact that they were just sold would have me a bit spooked too -- maybe it'll help, maybe hinder? Overall though, it makes you wonder if the product was pushed out to market in leiu of a pending divestiture of assets thus making the overall market value higher. (which, I should add in all fairness, happens EVERY day in the corporate world).

None of them are perfect, I certainly don't claim that but, there have been a fair share of lop-sided problems on at least one side of the fence with the whole 'tuner war'.

I know... I know... I know... most have had zero problems. The operative word there is 'most'. The 'most' curve, however, isn't a pretty bell curve for all products.

Anyway... certainly not trying to derail this regularly scheduled hypertech thread... more trying to put both sides of the fence on the table since only one is represented here (and because of the 'MOST' comment). It's all an opinion... take mine or leave mine... your call.

here's a link to the tuner in question.
http://www.hyperpac.com/features.php

If anyone has this I sure would like to know if it is a good product or not!

I have an XCAL 2... started with an XCAL 1.

To answer your question, no. I haven't tried it. To elaborate on that answer, I won't either; not this one at least...

It's a great concept... the 'gee-wiz' factor (which I really like -- gizmos are cool) is way high because of the guages. Frankly, that's something that is a HUGE plus for it but, I can't get over the fact that there have been so many little here and there problems with it. Like I said in my first post, all of them can have a qwerk or two but, they seem more prevalent with the Edge based on what I read here, at FTW, and at the other couple of F-series sites IMO... Plus, in all honesty, I'd rather someone who understands tuning, understands the parameters that are being tweaked, and understands the outcomes of each tweak to tune my truck... And, for the record, don't read 'Troyer' into that response -- he is who tuned my truck and, for that case, who will tune all of my vehicles w/ OBD II but, it could be ANYONE (Bama, Troyer, Billybob'sTuns-R-Us).

For what it's worth, I think that the Edge is a fantastic idea but fell short when it came to reliability... maybe a little more product testing would've put it over the top in a clear-cut fashion in my eyes... again though, it's all my opinion though...

You have what's best for you... I have what's best for me. That's what's important.
