Installed my Volant today...

..and promptly ripped off a 7.2s 0-60 (Edge indicated, gears/tires adjusted). Not bad for level 2 and 87. Best with stock intake and level 3 (93) was 6.9s with about 35 degrees lower ambient temperature. Pics available upon request, but it's just another Volant on a 5.4 really.

Figures! I tell you about the deal and you get yours first! UPS says mine will be here tomorrow though. How did the install go? How is the intake noise? Pros, cons? Thanks, Ron

Oh brother, you better post those level 3 times with the volant...I can't believe you're ripping such a quick 0-60.

Install went OK. Volant should pay me about $20k for 60 minutes of work, and I will fix the spelling/gammar errors. I could make the directions accurate, and make some sense....It really looks bad when "an" takes the place of "and". Then again, I pick these kind of errors out in daily papers and truck magazines all the time

It's nosiy. It has a reverb that seems to shake something in the cab or column. I'm already thinking about peeling the Dynamat off my junk S10 doors, and using it to try to quiet the intake.

I have had mine since 8/2005 and have no excess noise and I have the ram air tube.. Strange huh?

Excessive and noisy are, of course, relative terms. YMMV

I had a bunch of reverb on mine too. After putting peel-n-seal almost everywhere, I found it was rubbing from the front intake square hole (near the headlight area). That and I added a 3rd screw to bolt it down and that got rid of 95% of the vibration.

Anaheim Think I'm going to make my own ram air tube out of aluminim dryer vent and route it up thru the grill then paint it. Did you block off the hole on front of the box?

No I did not block off the front opening after installing the ram air...
The problem is that with it being a closed system, the lack of air prevents the HP gains of other intakes. Now by adding the ram air you now have more flow in addition to a closed system.

I have been pleased with mine. If it was chrome I would be in love...

haha, that chrome on my AF1 is a little overated. It's dirty 99% of the time anyway and because it's dirty chrome, it stands out. I'm sure for blacktop trucks it would look great, but dirt finds me no matter how hard I try to stay away from it.

For the record, in the thread I started, I've added Dynamat now, and things are much quieter, BUT it seems I had a leak at the TB before, so it was really loud then. It still drones pretty bad at light throttle and 2100 RPM.

Where did you add Dynomat? Mine is loud but it sounds like it might be vibrating off of something. I am going to look around at all fitings but curious about what you found.

I had the Dynamat laying around spare from when I did my S-10. I had barely enough with about 2 sq feet. I did most of the tray and most of the inside of the filter box. Other guys did peel-n-seal from the roofing section at your favorite big box home retailer for cheap. That's probably just as good, but I had the pricey stuff lying around doing nothing, so I used it.

Does yours rub on that relay box on the inner fender on your 06 like mine does? I padded that a bit and that has helped with the noise... I'm very happy overall though.
