What could this be with only 15,000 miles

The other day i was pulling into my garage and I noticed a slight tapping coming from the motor. I took out my auto stethescope and it sounded more noticable on the passenger side valve over. I am going to schedule a appointment at the dealership to get it checked out but any thoughts on what it could be.

I am having the same problem. I was looking for an answer when I came across your post. If I am correct I remember reading on the forms somthing about a cam phaser thing and the ticking was cause by that. someone correct me if I am wrong. I am still searching and I will repost if I can find anything. Also keep this post from being burried so maybe later someone else will know and chime in.

Get thee to the dealership, post haste.

Seriously sounds exactly like the infamous cam phasor in your 5.4's. Get the dealer to fix it.

Probably the cam phaser. Easy and quick fix under warranty.

I had to have mine replaced with less than 4k miles on it.

I agree...cam phaser. Had both of mine replaced about 6 months ago and now they are tapping again.

What is a cam phaser and its purpose?

It's part of the variable valve timing system on these new 3 valve engines.

Not sure of all of it's ins and outs, but the dealership told me it was a fairly easy thing to swap out.
