They said it couldn't be done...
All my Chevy friends with their Z71's claimed my 2WD F150 would never be able to uproot the huge eyesore of a tree that used to be in my backyard. But I say otherwise...

 Good Kill!!!

NICE, those Chevy guys just don't know anything about low end torque. Good to hear Ford is still showing up Chevy trucks everywhere
|
It's interesting that those Z71 guys had no interest in stepping up to the plate, but those Chevy guys are among the first to stand back and laugh.

I've got 4 in front of my house right now that I need to rip out.
I'm afraid the F150 is going to bust my foundation when I go to do it. Who in the heck plants a tree 3 feet from the foundation of a house? There were some real morons that landscaped this house when they built it. I may have cut mine too low. I'm thinking I'm going to have to do some digging (arrgghh) to be able to get a cable around them good. |

You shouldn't have much problem with slipping. |
The cable worked like a charm. No digging required.
I did find out that the "throttle by wire" system does not respond well to extremely slow pedal input. I would let the truck creep forward at idle in 4 low until the cable tensioned up, and then eaaase into the peddle. I was doing the pulling without the aid of a spotter and didn't want a cable flying into my tailgate or (God forbid) to bust the foundation of my house. I had to depress the accelerator somewhere between a quarter and a half an inch before the computer would ever pick up on it. Every time I did it I was having flashes of a stump flying out of the ground when the truck suddenly jumped from idle to about 4 grand and slamming into another tree as the flying stump smashed through the back window. It never did surge like I expected, just finally decided that it was time to accelerate a little like it should have done from the get go. Has traditional linkage and cable not served us well as throttle input forever? This is one of those "innovations" and "advancements" that I see absolutely no use whatsoever for. |
Congrats! :rocker:
Easing into it didn't work for me either... I had to jerk it a few times. I had my wife spotting for me... not that it would have done much good, but I feared the same as you... for my tailgate and rear window! |
