So I brought the truck in today..

I was in about 2 months ago for an oil change and to have a starting issue looked at. The truck every now and then would not start, or start and cut right off.. 2 months ago, they replaced the throttle body. See this thread here for original post..

Well I'm still having the same issue. Happens once every week or two.. Brought it in today for this and a tranny issue (seems to drag around 40-50mph when I let off the gas).

To fix the starting issue, they are going to replace the injectors. I asked about the tranny issue and he claims that the injectors are going to fix that issue as well.

Am I an idiot, or is this guy blowing smoke up my butt? I don't see how the injectors could be related to tranny dragging or slow shifts, etc.

Your thoughts guys?

I guess techinically its possible. If the PCM demands power or less power and the injectors are not cooperating then it may cause the PCM to say "whhhooooaaaa tranny, don't shift yet". With all the fancy electronics in vehicles these days he could be right. Let 'em do the work and test drive it around the block before you take it home.

lol i love your idea of what a PCM says, mine probly says 'OK im gonna shift into the passing gear 2 seconds slower than a cable throttle so it ticks you off!!' if any of you dont know what im talking bout, the 04 and i think 05 have a cable throttle wich makes it passing gear shifts quick but now the 06 have a electric shift that has to go through the computer wich makes it slow! and it sucks k sorry for sorta not sticking to topic.....what was the topic?

If you are saying that the 04 and 05 have a cable throttle, that is incorrect, they have drive by wire just like the 06. If that is not what you are saying, then I have no idea what you are saying.

As to the original thread subject, when my throttle body was messed up at 1600 miles, my truck would not shift into overdrive nor would it downshift properly. The RPMs were messing with the info being sent to the PC. The throttle body replacement fixed all the problems.

hmm let me explain my horrible explanation, my dad has a 04 and i have a 06 and i noticed that when i slam my pedal to the floor it dose not shift into the passing gear quick. I took it to the dealership and we took it for a test spin and he explain that the 06's dont have the same pedal set up, the 06's have to send it through the computer and the computer says to down shift into the passing gear. The 04's do it mechanicly or somthing. Thats it.......

They explained it wrong, unless your dad's is a heritage edition.
Ever since the new model came out in '04, they have been drive-by-wire, which means there is no throttle cable, just a sensor on the pedal.

My '04 was sluggish on starting... had the PCM reprogrammed and walah, it's more like having a throttle cable.

yes, I had a serious hesitation, had it reflashed at the dealer, it leared how I wanted to drive, and it has been very responsive ever since.

Back to topic, here are the notes on the work detail.

Recorder monitor test fuel pressure & leak down test drops 35psi under 10 sec. Unable to run injector flow due to pressure loss performed power balance test on start to determine leaking injectors. All bank #2 shows low on start-up, checked condition of bank #2 plugs all wet, replaced all bank #2 injectors, rerun fuel pressure and leakdown test - pass 0.2 PSI drop 60 sec performed injector flow test - pass cleared DTC and reset KAM road tested, reck eec pass 9F593
Interesting. I wonder if they replaced the plug too?
