flowmaster 40 series poor perfomance on my f150
i just installed my flowmaster 40 series and i"m very disappointed not the type the sound the i wanted i previuos owned a 03 ram 1500 4.7 with the same type of mufler(40series flowmaster) it was nice tide rumble sound so i think with the same 40 series and bigger engine 5.4 i was expecting almost or better sound out my 5.4 engine and what i got is a very lousy sound i feel like i driving an old truck
any solutions?
any solutions?
yea i like the sound but these trucks arnt going to sound like an old hot rod if thats what your looking for. Newer cars are starting to sound different than older ones. you can try taking out the cats or putting headers on
are you concerned with the performance or the sound?

I believe I remeber when we were crash testing these we were updating the exhausts at some point. They went from a 4 cat system that had 2 HEGO sensors between the manifolds and the front two cats, and then 2 more HEGO's between the upstream and downstream cats.
If I remember correctly the prototype exhausts we were updating to at the time (Late 2003) just had one very large cat that had the HEGO installed right into the center of it? Is this how your truck is Matt?
Oh and Omar, could you please try to use some punctuation?
To answer your question. I have a stainless Flowmaster Delta 50 with 2 of the 4 cats removed and I like the way it sounds; I get compliments very often.
My only complaint is w/ a lot of Flowmaster systems you get resonation in the cab which I do. I get some good resonation in the cab for about the last 500 rpm before the truck shifts, but on WOT or hard acceleration you can't beat the sound of a Flowmaster IMO.

As far as sound and performance, I have no complaints. I don't get the loss of low end that everyone complains about and the sound is great. I'm very happy. I am thinking of headers, however.
