Which leveling kit?

For all you guys with a leveling kit I have a few questions.

I am thinking either a 2" or 2 1/2" which is better? I have a 2006 SCREW 4X2 and want to put a bigger tire on it. I'm leaning towards the 295/70R17 Nittro Terra Grapplers. I found them online for $193.95 per tire.

Which kit is the best out there? There are so many to choose from that I'm not sure which is the best one to go with. I'm looking for one that I can do in my driveway myself even though I am not that mechanically inclined. I just don't want to have to pay someone else $200 to $300 to do it.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

Welcome,
There are soooooo many opinions about the "best" leveling kit. You best bet is to do a search using the drop down on leveling kits and enjoy the numerouse threads. Many opinions but the Auto Spring and Daystar are the two most popular with the Auto Spring probably being the easiest to install.
As far as 2 or 2.5" you can decide after doing some reading.
Good luck

I 've got the 2inch EZ lift and I'm very pleased with it. It was real easy to install it took about 45min to do the 1st side and less than 15 to do the other side. Also I've no issue of balljoints rubbing or any[IMG][/IMG] other problems yet.

I say EZ lift as well. I love the way they look, CNC billet aluminum. I just wished my 2.5" worked on top of my Fabtech, but it didn't.

just go with the full suspension lift! you will be happy you did. but yea any of the leveling kits are easy to install, but then you need to go get your truck alligned which usually costs about $100.

Agreed man. I started off with the daystar and 33s. Spent 14 hundred total and 5 months later I just spent like 4 grand on the full suspension. At first you will like it but then you'll start seeing lifted trucks and feel bad and small.

Mine is an Autospring 2" kit. I had some knee surgery and wasn't able to do the install myself. I paid a reputable 4 x 4 shop to install mine. They charged 85.00 labor and then $42.00 for the alignment. I would have willing to pay them $127.00 even if I was capable of doing it.

I have a 2wd as well and I have a 2" ez lift. If your truck were a 4x4 then a 6" would look nice but if it's just a 2wd and your looking for an aggressive stance with meaty tires, I would stick with the level kit. Ez lift and autospring install in the same manner, requires you to remove the coilover and add the spacer on top, but the daystar requires you to dissamble the coilover and compress springs to add the spacer. I would stick with a 2" spacer unless you plan on adding a lot of weight to the front of your truck, ie: grille gaurd, brush gaurd or something quite substancial.

Another thing check out the Toyo open country a/t's they look the same as the nitto's for alot less. The cheapest I found the nitto's (if you can find them in stock) was still around $425 more than the Toyo's and you won't be able to tell the difference between a 295/70/17 and a 285/70/17.

I've got a 2.5AutoSpring on my white truck and had a 2.5 daystar on my black truck, You can see pics of both in the link below.
BTW- I paid $150 for the install on Auto Spring that included alignment and tax
