Larger tires on stock XLT?

First off, yes I have searched the boards and can't find an answer.

I'm wondering what the largest tire is that I can "safely" fit on my stock XLT?

If I'm right, the suspnsion sits a bit lower than the stock FX4, is that right?

If so, can I fit a 255 or a 265?
I think 235 is stock.

I have the 17" chrome rims.

Thanks in advance!

I'm running FX4 wheels and tires on my stock height XLT. You shouldn't have any problems fitting up to a 32" tire.

If it's a 4x4 you should be able to fit up to a '33 tire without any problems. Unless your truck is a 4x2 then it sits the same height as a stock FX4 aswell as a stock 4x4 lariat or STX or XL.

On a 4x4 you can fit a 285/70/17. Not too sure about a 4x2

You can fit a 285/70-17 (33x11.50) on your 4x2 if you install one of the 2.5 inch leveling kits.

Just FYI... those numbers are the width of the tire in millimeters.

Am I correct that that will fit a 4x4 without the leveling kit?

35's on XLT 4x4

Hey, i have a 05 xlt with the leveling kit and i test fit 315/70/17 Bfgoodrich All Terrain's on my truck and it is only going to rub on the lower control arm just a little bit. the only reason it does this is bc of the tread on the sidewall. iam looking into putting 35/12.50/17 BF Mud terrain's soon.
