Adding trans temp gauge - what brand?

Have a '04 F150, 5.4, 4x4 Screw. Occasionally pull either a 22' pontoon boat or 27' travel trailer. No question that I need a transmission temperature gauge. I've searched some prior posts and am trying to determine a what brand gauge to buy. Am looking for some type of single pod installion.

Would greatly appreciate input from you guys that have installed one. Responses with links to your photo galleries would be great. Also, recommendations on where to buy would be appreciated.

Thanks.

what about the Edge tuner. It has trans gauge, plus 18 other ones. Not to mention you get a towing tune on it.

I have an Edge, but will be adding an Autometer trans temp gauge. Check out their web page, Autometer is probably the best... though they can be pricey.

Perma Cool makes an auxillary trans filter. You can get it either with or without a trans temp gauge. This'll read the temp right off of the converter.

I have an Edge for monitoring transmission temps, but if I didn't have the Edge I'd have a Dakota Digital Odyssey Series II gauge.

Just a thought....

I have the Edge and a gauge the gauge sender is in the test port and reads about 25-30 deg below the edge.

The edge reads what the PCM is seeing?

Trans Temp

I have speedhut gauges. www.speedhut.com you can design them right on their web site as to color of face, font style, back lighting color, bezel color, and pointer color I even have a ford racing logo on mine. You can go with the black face and bottle green night lighting which matches the instrument panel perfectly. However, this is not yet part of their interactive design yet so you will need to call them and order that option over the phone. They are very nice gauges and super easy to install. With all the options I paid a little over 100.00 for the trans temp gauge shipped.
www.egauges.com has a decent pod mounting selection for the fords.

The gauges I have seen that match the stock look closely are the Isspro and the Dipricol gauges at www.dieselmanor.com. I really like the Isspro black face full sweep trans temp gauge.

EDIT: Diesel Manor also carries Ford interior paint if you want to paint your gauge pods/mountings.

Thanks for the replies thus far.

I should have clarified in my original post that I already have the Superchips tuner. I understand that the Edge monitors trans. temp. but I'd doubt I'll be investing in another tuner anytime soon.

I'll check out some of the brands/sites listed.

Does anyone have pics of either installation (i.e. - exactly where the sending unit attaches to the transmission) or pics of the finished installed gauge using a single pod?

Thanks!
