Well, the project F150 is finished and the features have started appearing in Off-Road magazine. As some of you remember, we started with an '05 F150 Supercab 4x4 XLT with the 6.5' bed. We installed an A.R.E. Z-Series cap, Ford Bedrug bedliner, King Racing suspension, 275/65R20LT (34") Goodyear Wrangler AT/S tires on 20x8.5 chrome alloy American Racing RT-S wheels, 4.10 gears, Detroit Truetrac gear-driven positractions front and rear, and a Roush supercharger.
I can report that the truck works great. There's no tire rubbing on- or off-road and the King suspension really controls the bumps. The Roush supercharger works well and gave us a three-second increase in 0-60 time, but doesn't give us the radical gains you can get with a Whipple, Procharger, etc. The plus side is the warranty isn't voided with the Roush. There are only 2400 miles on the truck, so it's still not broken in.
I was going to keep the truck, but, since Primedia doesn't buy our projects for us, I think I'll have to sell the F150 to get enough $ for the next project.

I am extremely interested in how the true-tracs perform on road, but especially off. Is steering dampered? What are you running in the 0-60? How difficult was the ring and pinion work? Is the 3 second improvement a combination of the gears and Roush s/c? Lastly, how difficult was it to install the Detroit Truetrac.**

The ring and pinion install was performed by my local Ford dealership. They reported that the setup was easy both in the 9.75 rear and the reverse 8.8 up front.
My truck, at 3400 feet altitude, turned in poky 9+ second 0-60 times stock. With the cap, tires and wheels, it slowed down to 10.5 seconds! With the big tires installed and 4.10 gears that returned it to the same effective gearing the truck had when stock, and the ROUSHcharger, it now goes 0-60 in 7.5 seconds at 3400 feet altitude. That doesn't sound fast compared to the times I've been reading here, but it sure FEELS way faster. IMHO, the truck performs superbly!

I am so glad to see you posted info on the true tracks driveability. I have thought about (leaving the rear limited slip, will save me some money up front) and putting the true track in front. Or course changing gears all around. Since, I will be installing the Rancho lift I will have easy access to the front diff. The rear is always easy to get too. You have also almost 99.8% sold me on the tire size you are running. I am way more interested in functionality than looks, OK not true, but I want the best of both worlds. Great job!

You'll like the Truetrac. My factory limited slip in the rear was more slip than not. In fact, I only spun one rear wheel when stock. You might want to save the extra $ up and splurge for the rear Truetrac as well, since you're going to be changing gears, anyway.
