Oh! Hail
Oh! Hail
My wife brought my truck home from work today. It looks like golf ball. It has dent and dings in every panel. The hail hit so hard it broke the "ice tray" cowl cover and the glass in the drivers mirror. I have not found one panel that does not have dammage. The insurance adjuster will look at it tomarrow. I really dont think this can be fixed by a dent wizard place, so Im sure its off to the body shop.
Has anyone had to experance this yet?

My mom's mountaineer had this happen to it. Looked just like that, little dents EVERYWHERE. It went to the Ford place and came back looking like new, I wish I knew what they did.........

Dry ice
Dry ice is part of the process used to smooth small dents, but it is not the only thing required for the paintless dent repair. I believe they also mildly heat the affected areas either before or after the application of the dried ice.
About 12 years ago, my parents cars were both hail damaged. There were 209 dents on my fathers Honda Prelude. They can pretty easily smooth the dents on any panel that they can get to the back of, like the hood, roof (remove headliner), and trunk lid. Those are the most often damaged by hail anyway. They can't fix dings in the roof pillars, or at the edge of panels. Tops of fenders where they curve are harder also.
I don't know the entire process, but I was stunned at how good my dad's car looked after the repair.
Back then I drove an '85 Jeep CJ. Thicker steel = no dents

OOOOUUUUCCCHHH!!!!! I know that feeling all too well. I had my brand new '90 F 150 about a month or two when I too was hit with golf ball size hail. Man, every damn panel looked like someone played the drums on it. I had a body shop do my repairs. Unfortunately, that shop did less than adequate work and replaced the hood with a piece of **** taiwan hood, which didn't line up right and started rusting in no time. They also did a crap job on the roof.
I would recommend trying the paintless dent removal way first. And go to the BEST body shop around(even if you have to pay a little extra out of pocket) Believe me, it is WELL worth it to go with a big, quality shop. Also, make absolutely sure that any new panel is FORD(get it in writing!!!)
Good luck, I fell for ya!

Just got back from the insurance adjuster. $3600.00 . That includes a new hood, mirrors, 3rd brake light, and a new ice cube tray for the wipers.
I went to the body shop. The guy said the estimate seems low, but he has worked with my insurance company before. If it runs over. He will work it out with the adjuster.
New hood = $495.00
insurance dectiable = $500.00
New cowl hood ordered and delivered to the body shop = $489.00
Free mod = priceless
It will take two weeks. I will post picks when its done.
