Strange engine noise / problem or normal?

When my truck is not fully warmed up it makes a clatter or rattle noise on exceleration, when it reaches operating temp the noise goes away. I have a 6" lift and 35" tires. Any one else have this "problem" or should i get it checked out?

Thanks

Do you have a stock intake. If so make sure your intake is properly secured where it meets the fender wall. Mine was loose and it made a vibrating sound.

What kind of clatter sound, does it sound somewhat like either of the following: diesel-ish or valve-train tapping?

I am experiencing the same thing. Sounds like a valve rattle. Any input would be appreciated.

Mine makes all kinds of noise fromt he left side under my feet under heavy acceleration. But it doesn't do it when i'm in neutral and i rev it. I also have a bucnch of lift

Try to see if it makes the noise in neutral too...

Ah, that sound is music to my ears, not. Mine sounds just like that. When it stops making any sound is what I'm most concerned about. Normal shnormal.

Yes, its only under heavy acceleration, i havent tried it in neutral. I is way diferent than the phaser tap at iddle.

My 02 EXPY made the same noise when towing my trailer up hills under heavy acceleration, but that was with when warm, and not near as bad as this.

It goes away after reaching operating temp????

Damn Vader, that sounds horrible and they told you it was normal? (I did read through that thread you're refering to) So if my truck doesn't make that noise, is it not normal?

Does this noise sounds like a heat sheild rattling against the exhaust very rapidly, right under the left side of the truck? I have heard this, mainly at drive-thoughs when pulling forward.

Vader's truck sounds just like mine. The dealership told me that it was just "normal" injector noise, atleast for the 5.4L 3V. It sounds more like my dads 6.0L PSD to me than a gasser.

That's what I've been told. I'm a computer geek not a auto-tech. I'm gonna have it checked the next time I go to the dealer just to be sure.

I get the same noise you are talking about....only when its cold...something with the lash adjusters on these trucks but i think they were updated in 05 or 06....i dont think its anything to worry about as longs as you have oil in the engine
