Pulled the trigger on the Rancho 4" Kit

Well, I finally pulled the trigger on the Rancho 4" kit. I wouldn't have done it but I got a heck of buy on the kit, 9000X reservoir rears, 9000X fronts, skid plate, that whole shabang.

So that was bascially my budget for fun for the whole year. I have a couple of questions. I know a few of you are running 35's on the stock rim. I am happy with my stock rims for now since new ones aren't in the picture. But I drive like 30-35k a year and I think the 35's will just not wear properly. And let me be honest except for the occasional right-of-way romp this truck is a mall crawler. So MAXIMUM traction isn't neccessary. I've found good driving and a good A/T will get you out of about anything.

So the problem is I've noticed even the 33" tires for the 18's are 12.5 wide, like the 35's. Does anyone have any opinions on tires that would be more A/Tish and fit my needs?

How bad would the stock tires look with the lift? Does anyone have any pictures?

I have a feeling, I may actually have this kit in boxes for a few months or year if I can't fins anything that will work tire wise.

Stick with a BFG tire if you want them to wear properly on a 7.5" wide rim but PLEASE get 35s, even if you have to wait.

If I were you I would get 33" BFG A/T for your 18s. Still going to look cool...hopefully not too small. Too bad your rims aren't 17" or I would say get some 315/70/17 BFG AT like me. I love them. Maybe you can get someone to trade

Rancho lift and 35" BFG AT

33s

35s

Personally, I find 33s way too small for that much lift. If your going to be spending the money on new tires, you might as well get 35s. The 33s arn't going to wear any better than 35s. I say get some 35" BFG M/Ts, they look great on the Lariat wheels.

First, the stockers and the lift idea is gone. I figured it would look like that but I was hopeing it wouldn't look that bad.

After looking around E-bay. I think I may drop down to a 17" and go with the 315/70/17's. I can get new take off 17's for 200 shipped give or take for the newer 17 x 7.5. I also saw the 315's come in a GoodYear Wrangler Extreme, I think they were made for the H2's anybody ever hear or seen them?

Thanks for everyones input and pictures too, I appreciate that stuff thats why I keep coming back here.

Edit: I just got off the phone with the guy from tirerack. The Wrangler A/T Extreme is the new OEM tire for the Hummer H2. There is NO information anywhere about it yet though. And all the pictures on the H2 site are of 05' models sporting the BF Goodrich's

What kind of deal did you find on those reservore shocks and where from? Whats that 4" kit cost?
Do you have to do anything with your driveshaft?
Where is a good place for getting prices on lift kits?

The kit normally costs around $1750. The driveshaft does not require any modifications.

My favorite website for lifts is http://www.rockymountainsusp.com/ or www.4wheelparts.com

The reservoir shocks are Rancho# RS19287.
Like Thumper said the kit is around 1500 plus, about 600 extra for the front 9000x adjustables and rear reservoir adjustables total, 150 for the remote control kit for the shocks, and another 350 for the skid plate. The reason I bought all of this though was I got it for 1375. Thats also the reason my wife isn't talking to me right now /.

Go with the 2 sites Thumper suggested there is someone on here who can help you get maybe better prices but I forgot their name. Just keep your eyes open on E-bay too.

I saw that on e-bay, I almost bought it. I had been watching it all week. I just didnt have $1400, plus shipping from cali to Florida would be a bitch.
Good luck, and go with 35's or it is a waste, you can do 33's with a leveling kit

I think it looks best with 33s.

Granted you can do 33s with a leveling kit, it does nothing to improve your suspension. The Rancho kit looks really robust. They have always been good at making a suspension that improves your rides capabilities rather than just letting you put bigger rubber under there.

I read through the instructions. It says that 35s would require some trimming if used in heavy off roading. And of course, why would you want to do a suspension system if you are not going to use it

The fabtech gives warning about steering vibration and premature wear. The Rancho kit looks like it was engineered really well. All steering and suspension angles are retained.

I may get that kit and run 33s with stock wheels. I was thinking of the daystar but that seems like a hack more for looks than function.

You can do 33's WITHOUT a leveling kit.
