Hard wire for Sirius Starmate
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello,
I want to hard wire my sirius starmate. I want to stop using the power plug and stop plugging It In.
I want the unit to turn on and off with the stereo. I want to stop using the power button on the starmate.
Could someone tell me what wire to tap Into and what parts do I need.
Do I need a fuse to tie In??
Or the safe way to do this without blowing up the starmate or the truck.

I did try this post In the satellite post, But didn't get a answer. I figure someone here could help.
Also any suggestions on mounting the Sirrius starmate.
Thank You

You received 4 responses to your question in the satellite radio forum. Look at what Transfercase had to say about which wire to tap into. That's what I did with my positive wire & it worked just fine.... my starmate now turns on & off with the ignition. Connect the ground wire of your starmate to some of the exposed metal underneath the dash (you'll need to drill a hole in the metal to anchor your ground wire with a screw, remove the radio/HVAC trim & then the ashtray to see the metal substructure of the dash). I just cut the cigarette adapter off my starmate pwr. cord, seperated the positive & negative wires and then wired them as outlined above. I did not install an inline fuse for my starmate, others elect to do so, it's up to you. (I'm sure someone will jump my case for not doing so.) Good luck.
