4.6 Removing Silencer/Widening Intake

Any negative side effects of removing the silencer from the intake. And do you think its worth it to widen the intake with PVC coupler where the intake originates?

Works fine. Did mine about 5 years ago and all is well. Added a K&N as well as opening up the intake at the fender wall and removing the silencer.

I haven't had any negative effects. Mine definitely ran better with better throttle response. Sounds good too.

Hose that runs to the tube....

How do you take the hose off the tube. Do I just pull it off?

TysTonka......not sure what hose you are talking about. The toughest part is taking out the silencer. Takes a bit of prying and wiggling but it will come out. Detailed info on how-to in these links. You just have to look around.

It's the hard hose that runs to the tube. it's near the middle of the tube.

are you talking about the pcv hose? It should have a "twist" disconnect lever on it....

This is what i did. i pulled the rubber seal off the plastic fender pipe and glued it to the end of a rubber coupler. and clamped it to the filter housing

Taking out the silencer isnt too bad, just allow for enough time. And having a friend to pull against really helps too

there is some type of twist release mechanism thing. Like a little spring loaded lever at the base of it... Just look around. Dont froce anything. It should come off pretty easy without having to force it...
