Slightly off topic but I dont understand why everyone assumes a 2wd truck is worthless off road. Ive taken my truck anywhere my friends have gone on plenty of off road situations and never been stuck once. What are pre-runners anyways? Dont get me wrong, Im not saying a 2wd truck will perform just as well as a 4x4 by any means but that does not render it useless. In fact I believe having a 2wd over 4x4 even has some very slight benefits offroad, such as less weight and less likely to dig yourself deeper if you do happen to get stuck. Not to mention the much higher cost to mantain and repair a 4x4. It only makes sense that even a 2wd with some lift and AT tires would fair much better than a 4x4 without them, 2 tires with traction or 4 without. Same goes with a lowered 4x4, what if you enjoy the look and accessibility of a lowered truck but yet you NEED 4wd for winter and icy conditions. Makes sense to me. How often does the average truck driver ever encounter a situation in which 4x4, 6" of lift, and 35" tires are required? Its all mainly for show and play. I think the true want-a-be's are the ones with lifted 4x4's that never leave dry pavement. But back on topic, I have a friend with a red reg cab STX just like mine except step side and hes got the 2" leveling lift kit with some 20s with im not sure what tire they are not AT's and they dont look small at all. I think it looks nice and real agressive.

Wow, sorry for the long post. I just talked about this subject today at work and got alot of different opinions.

Heres pics with the lift for Aaron

Just lift:

I'd rather see them stock or leveled, but raised is better than having a lowrider! IMO

to tell the truth, I don't know why people with 2wd's are so touchy about the subject. I never said a 2wd was worthless. I've owned a couple of 2wd's before......as a matter of fact I have one for a daily driver........Kia(Power Wagon) Sephia....... I just said, I don't agree with a lifted 2wd or a lowered 4wd.

RandallT I agree with you.

Always follow the golden rule:

If its a 4wd LIFT IT,
If its a 2wd DROP IT!

I see lots of lifted trucks that look nice, and then when I find out they are 2wd something changes in my mind as far as opinion of it. Almost like a want-a-be. But if it's a 2wd looking like a 2wd, then I never think twice.

My opinion is also the same of having a 4wd and lowering it to look like a street racer or sport truck of some sort. I think lowering a 4X4 is defeating the purpose of what it is........just my 0.02

I say if you just raise your front to equal your back then that would be enough and it would look nice. Good luck.

by the way, I know you didn't ask for all of the above from me......
Just to equal the ride hight on both ends is pretty what what I had in mind
an actual lift kit for a 2wd is not what I am after. I don't want the look of a "lifted" truck. just a bit more aggressive look with out looking like a 4x4 wanna be. nothing against 4x4's its just that I don't own one (LOL)

There also another "golden rule" that many people believe: a truck is made to be a truck and not a "pimped out ride" so never stick huge rims and lower it and thus take away alot of the abilities the truck was design to have, such as towing, ground clearance, and the right to be a little dirty. Theres many people who would say that if you want big rims and a huge trunk then you should have bought a lincoln town car or a cadilac instead of a gas gussling truck that you will never really "use".

Thats my opinion and I believe everyone has a story behind how they modded their truck and why. In fact I really like the look of your truck "RamSS/T" and Im pretty jealous of your sound system.

I know what your saying but trust me I USE my truck everyday for just I bought it for....a work truck. I work out of my truck everyday, and my truck is set up perfect for it. Just because I don't haul 2x4s in the back and have a hard hat on the passengers seat doesnt mean its any less of a work truck. The type of work I do is just different than what some others do. I have yet to see a doctors office parking lot I didnt have enough ground clearence to get into. So my truck is perfect for what I USE it for...to drive in town on paved roads and look good doing it. Maybe when I trade it in the guy that gets it will beat the hell out of it and keep it dirty so it will at least feel like a real truck then....

To each their own.. but I'm with the thread poster. I have a 2WD and I have leveled it with 2" AS. I plan on adding some 33"s for a little extra height and more aggressive look. I love the way our trucks look lifted, and 4WD was out of my price range.. so I'll make do.

And I agree with KaNiG.. My truck does pretty damn good offroad.

Where did you get you blocks from and did you have to change your rear shocks?

I know I'll get slammed for this, but I have a 4x4 Screw and I'll probably put 2wd blocks in the back to level it out.

1) I take it off road about once a month, however, I don't need ground clearance. I need traction. Another 2" of body height really won't help me in muddy fields.
2) Another 2" of height won't make it any easier to pull a boat up a boat ramp.
3) Another 2" of height in the rear won't help in the snow I'm likely to see.
4) Another 2" of height won't help me pull other vehicles out of the ditch.
5) Dropping the rear a couple of inches would level out the truck and allow me easier access to the bed. I'm 6'2" and I have a hard time getting stuff out of the bed because the walls are so high. I also can't see small items behind the truck over the tailgate.
