Helo Maxx 6's and Toyo 285/70/17's Installed.....kinda dissappointed

Well Guys

Today I decided to ditch the idea of running the BFG AT's and decided to run Toyo's instead because the are readily available. The Helo's are a 17x8 with 4.25" of backspacing. (I figured that they would be about the same as the 18x9's with 5.5" of backspacing) I am a little dissapointed on how far the stick out in front. To me they stick out more than I expected. I didnt know the tires would bulge out that far :o

Maybe after next weekend, when the SJ3 kit is installed, it will look different. If anyone knows how to post pics in the forum let me know

PICS are in my gallary

Looks good. I think the BFG AT's would have looked quite a bit more aggressive. They'll look even better once you have the SJ lift on.

Very true, the toyos looked aggressive upon first site, but here in montana, a 285 BFG is hard to come by....the toyos are available and cheaper, so I thought i would give them a try.......thanks for putting the pics on the forum.

Also i think the rubber Toyo uses is a little hard.....you can feel the difference alot. Is there a simple way to explain how to do it?

View you pic in your gallery, towards the bottom you will see a link for "forum codes". Click that and copy the stuff betwwen the //imi// -or something like that. Then click on the insert image (yellow box) above the area that I'm typing in now and paste everything you copied.. Thats it..

you should ditch the nerf bars. truck seem like they sit lower then those are on there to me. bfg's would look so much better. the tires you have look like passenger tires.

I think that it looks pretty good. I am going to go with the same combo except probably run the terras. Those nerf bars do make it look like it sits alot lower. I have them on mine and am contemplating taking them off when I get my new wheels and tires. Tough choice since I paid a hell of a lot for them. Oh well, just have to wait and see. BTW those DO NOT look like passenger car tires. If you want to see them come look at my stock 235 70 17 Hankooks. LOL Now that's a car tire.

I know a couple of guys have mentioned about taking off the nerf bars, but later next week, im installing the Skyjacker 3" kit. In a way I think these may look like passenger tires, but they are bought and paid for so I'll stick with them. Thanks for the replies though

Your truck looks great! The Toyo is a fine tire. I had a set on my '02 Screw & loved them.

Don't forget to post pictures when you get the skyjacker on. I know that it will look like a completly different truck.

I once thought about taking my nerf bars off or never getting them in the first place due to making the truck look lower, but there my extra insurance policy. No cars and GM trucks can door ding me with those things on. That includes the female half when trying to get out of her car while in the garage. I can sleep a little harder at night that way.

No kidding, I bought the truck with a slight door ding, how he got it, i'll never know. By the way, how do you like your mud flaps? Does your current wheel/tire combo stick past the fender lines? I think im gonna get those mud flaps soon. That is the last thing i want is a ton of rock chips down the lower panel of the truck. Hopefully those husky guards will cover the tread

I like them, My tires are on the edge, but still within the wheelwell due to the factory backspacing. They do pick up rocks often though. I love the flaps, really grab the road oil and salt from spraying on the truck. Summit has a good price on them.
