LS and Trac. Control for 2006
LS and Trac. Control for 2006
Hi all,
I'm back in an unusual capacity. My FIL is looking to buy a 2006 F-150...he's only been researching it for 3 years.
So, March is the buying time. I offered to help get him connected to some internet salesman as he is not computer savy. Here is a question:
For 2006 you can get Traction Control (first time offered). He spoke with an older salesman who told him "you can't get Limited Slip and Traction Control...just one or the other because they are the same." His words, not mine. Having owned a few cars, I found that weird. Limited slip is in the gears and traction control is an ABS thing....right? Can you get LS and TC together in 2006?

Traction Control (Order Code 992) is available on all 4x2 models, as long as they are not equipped with the 4.2L V6. Limited Slip, which has several different order codes, shows as optional on a lot of different models. This would lead me to believe, since there are no special notations in the order guide, that they are not indeed the same thing, and can be ordered both together as well as independently of one another. I am, by the way, an Internet Sales Manager at the local FLM dealer. Lemme know if there's something else I can do to help. Later!
I belive its called traction assist and it is only available on 4x2 V8 models, its not a break thing, it keeps the truck stable when accelerating on wet roads. When I was doing my researching I, I couldnt get any more info from ford on it. I believe it works like a limited slip and its supposed to be better.
But there nothing I found that says you can not get both.

Just an update. We emailed, we talked, we bought!!!!
My FIL purchased a new (to be built) F150. It was quite a debacle as all 10 dealers I dealt with did not have the 9 specific options the truck had to have. When I say "had to have" I mean no more, no less. I found dealers who were willing to throw in an extra (sunroof, sliding rear window, etc) because it was on their lot. One even had a 4X4 at a 4X2 price...but my FIL wouldn't here of it. And why not, its his first new car in almost 20 years.
The truck was due to arrive in mid April but he got a call last week that it was in. He's picking it up on Monday. Thanks for all the help.
