Got a hole in my radiator !
well this morning my troyer e-fans arrived at my local performance shop, true performance of sarasota, anywas, the install was going fine until the mecanic some how snagged the radiator and caused a hole in the radiator ! this in part caused it to leak and is pretty much useless now !
well just wanted to let u know my pain and also ask how much for an oem replacement and how much for a high performance one ? i have been looking at ford racing but they only have the high performance one's which are $700 ! soo can someone tell me what the damage is so i can look into the shop buying me a new one ?

shouldnt the guy that made the hole have to fix the problem????
I think you can patch it if it is a small hole.... buy hey you can always sell the radiator to a scrap yard for $.50 a pound, so you could make a few bucks to put twards a new one.

See if Be Cool makes a radiator for our trucks. They always make the absolute best radiators out there and they are usually "drop-in" installs with no modifications required.

If they don't have anything, then I'd go with Ford Racing.

I never have liked the idea of poking something through the radiator to mount anything.
Now I like it even less. Problems such as this are why I will be going with the Flexalite 270 efans. They bolt right on.

same thing happened to me but it took 2 years for those stupid rods to wear threw, dont use the rods supplied with the troyer kit, i am using some perma cool nylon ties part # 105 to hold mine in that i got from madenterprise, it is very hard to braze the hole in a aluminum radiator, and even harder to heliarc it, so you will most likely have to get a new radiator, sorry to hear about your problem, you should call troyer and let him know about the rods so maybe he will change the way it is atached in his kit i have already called him and let him know about the nylon kit from perma cool, good luck
What good would it do to call Troyers???
I am not real fond of the rods either, but they came with the kit and I used them as most have.Yes, there is a better way to hold the fans in place, and I am sure it is being worked on as I type this, but of all the fan kits Troyer has sold, I wonder how many have actually caused a radiator issue, verses how many have not?
But you are missing the point here...No matter if the fans attatched with a strap, a bolt, or a wigget, the installing mechanic is the one who was installing the fans, and he should accept responsibility and pay for the repairs that ""HE"" caused...
