This happened all the time in my '99 F150 in-dash CD player. Eventually Ford replaced the head unit with one that had a built-in fan. My Audiophile 6CD unit has never done this. I would say that if it continues to happen take it to the dealer. During the winter months, when the heater vents are frequently used, this problem may be more evident. The CD players do give off quite a bit of heat and it's nice to know that the unit has a shutoff safety feature built-in. Good Luck
