SilverStar bulbs available yet??

Anyone know if Sylvania ever did come out with the SilverStar for trucks? I've been waiting for over a year now to get them for my '05 Mustang GT and the '05 F-150.....

Nothing available yet. When you search their website for H13 it doesn't show much.

I e mailed them several weeks ago and sylvania said " the DOT will not allow us to produce 9005 bulbs". So they will NOT be available ever!

Sylvania says the the DOT put it in the specs that the 9008 (H13) bulb not be coated. All SilverStar bulbs are coated type bulbs. So there will never be a SilverStar H13. They do have the 9145 out for the fog lights now, though.

I have heard that the European version of the 9005 silverstar is not coated and it much brighter due to the tight tolerances on headlights/glare over there. I wonder if they will make a European version of the H13 that isn't coated and we can somehow get our hands on it......

I have a 05 STX 150 with the european headlights and fogs and i love them. You don't see any other f-150 with them.

I got them from automotivelighting.com and the headlights were, High Voltage, were 60 and the fogs were 25. The fogs are more blue than the headlights but there is a big differance between stock and these. Give me a couple of days and i will try to get some pictures.

So what is the difference between the "Sylvania Silverstars" and the "Sylvania Xtravision Halogen Upgrade" (Part No.H13XV) ?? The blue tint?

The XtraVision bulb is a non-coated bulb with the filament engineered to be 20% brighter than the standard H13 (9008).

But so are the silverstars

"SilverStar shines with a luminance up to 20% greater than other halogens."

SilverStars are coated type bulbs. The coating alters the color of the light. DOT put in the spec that the H13 (9008) bulb must not be coated.

Kd4crs - this may be an option....I like the SilverStars because they are brighter than stock and are a white light - not blue or that dim looking yellow like the stock bulbs....it's really noticable on my '05 Mustang - the stock 9008's don't seem nearly as bright as the other stock halogen bulbs.
