Remote Start installed-Radio not working

This is also posted over in electrical...I thought that was a good place, but some of the remote start/alarm gurus are over here a lot. I know its for something different than the F150, but I bet the wiring is the same..here it is...

I just installed a Code Alarm 530 remote start in my 2003 Ford Expedition. After getting everything hooked up and running I found that the radio is not turning on. The clock comes on when the ignition is turned on, but the radio does not when the key is turned to accesory or to on.

I am wondering if there is a wire harness under or in the steering column that may have come unplugged or if installing the car remote start may have done something to it. I cannot figuire out how it could have though.

Maybe if someone has a diagram of a 2003 Ford Expedition they could email me at desmoguy*AT*comcast.net
Any ideas?

Thanks!

Dave

Kind of an update...the radio clock works and eject tape/CD works...nothing else. It won't turn on or anything. For what its work it seems that I can only see the clock with the headlights on, but that could be because it is night time. It is like it is not getting the heads up to turn on...or not getting power. COuld I have messed up something from the ignition swtich that powers the radio?

You have two wires that power your radio. One requires the key to be on. This is the one that seems to be messed up. The other is always hot. This one seems to be OK, as it will let you eject and power the clock. Did you splice into the ignition wire anywhere?

It is the stock radio, I believe that all the functions of the clock and eject buttons will work with the key off, so the radio does "think" the power to it is off.

I did splice into the ingition wires right near the switch to power the starter. All the other things that should work with the acc/on switches work like the power windows, windshield wipers, heater fan, just not the radio.

Unless Sandog chimes in here, he installs Ford starters and knows all, go to this guy. http://www.velocitymotorsport.com

For $3.50 he will email you a vehical specific wiring diagram and his phone number for any questions. He installs Code Alarm.
I used him for my F250 and Viper install....he is a great guy and a ton of help.

Hey there. Sandog is my co-worker.

Deeve I tried calling you but no answer.

MAKE SURE YOUR DOMELIGHT FUSE IS SET TO NEGATIVE!!! The Orange/Green wire is a negative circuit. If you have the domelight output set to positive you could harm this circuit.

I did put the fuse in so that it was negative...followed the Ford Directions and it seems to be working fine.

Everything is working except for the radio. I am getting more and more convinced that the radio is bad...I just need to get my hands on a wiring diagram and test the inputs to find out what power should be there and when. If it's getting power then I guess I am in the new market for a new radio.

Thanks all!
Dave

I hate to think that the radio is bad though. If it is in fact bad you know I can take care of you. I believe the Black with Pink is the 12 volt iginition but can't remember. I'll try to look at the instructions for our Ford overhead for the Expedition. It tells me the 12 Constant and Ignition wiring colors in the install manual.

That would be great..I hate to think the radio is bad too. It like it is getting half the power to it. The radio has enough to keep the clock working and the radio lights work with the dimmer switch. Just no on and off.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed on it!
