how to program the edge questions

hey guys, while we are waiting for our new toys to arrive, just wondering how to program things in advance...that way we won't have something throw us off when we install for the 1st time. i know we have to account for the tire size, but what else do we need to be mindfull of? beta testers, any new words of wisdom??? looking forward to the new toy! thanks guys.

Just thought of something. I had the dealer do a PCM re-flash awhile back. Is this going effect the programming of it at all?

Southside, you must be one of the betas, since you already have yours. Can you give those of us who are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our edge programmers some more feedback on your experience so far?

Low RPM performance or change over stock (1500-2500 rpm's)?
Overall performance between the lower and higher octane tunes?
The 19 options for the display, which ones are your favorites?
Have your mod's (AFE and exhaust) been enhanced with the programmer?

I could probably think of more, but anything you could share to "entertain" us and get us more psyched, would be great!

No the good news unlike the xcal2 you can update the Evoultion over the internet. It sounds like a good idea to keep checking the Edge site to make sure you have the best tune available from them.

The updates are free is what they told me when I asked.

Go to the Group Buy forum and you'll find the link. Someone will be able to set you up with the information you need.

I have a few questions. Can someone take a picture of where it plugs into? Do we need to run power to the module or when I connect it, it'll run off that power?

If i'm not mistaken, it plugs into the OBD2 port, just below the lower dash panel.

Look at the panel that is in front of yours knees. Now look at the bottom edge of this panel toward the right hand side. That is where the port is located.

Please don't throw rocks at me but......I've been away from the forum a while - what is an "Edge Programmer", and how does it compare to the XCal II and the Diablo Predator.....I was just about to pull the trigger on a Predator unit from Moss Motors....

Edge has finally come out with a tuner for our trucks. It is in the same category as the Superchips 1714/1745 but has shown dyno numbers much better than the 1714/1745. Right now the dynograph in ASEMechanic's (Edge Engineer) gallery shows some nice hp/tq gains in the upper rpm range. The neat thing about the evolution is that it comes with a gauge that can display 19 different things the computer in your truck monitors. If you look in the group buy secition around page 18-20 you will find what it can display. I think it was reposted somewhere around page 32 of that thread also.

IMO the Edge will net you almost as much hp/tq as a custom tune and it will have the gauge to display rpm/temps/mph etc... Also it cost a whole lot less than the xcal2 and can be updated over the internet when Edge releases new software unlike the xcal where you ship it back (paying shipping) then waiting for it to come back (taking forever).

Nicky - in a word....THANKS!! That's really good news! I did find the thread in the Group Purhase section but at about page 9 gave up as it had turned into a Troyer (Worship/Bash) thread.....too bad because for those of us who have not yet purchased a tuner - this appears to be a viable alternative to the XCAl II. I'll check around the pages of the post you suggested and, again, thanks!!

Do you have the Edge installed and, if so, how do you like it?

I'm waiting on the group buy to get mine. But I have driven a F250 with one of their tuners and it was very nice.

I saw it at real trucks for $440 but would love to get it cheaper if possible
