Yes, you are correct, but as I understand it, it fixes the lag as well. I think I would offer to pay for the reflash and see what happens. Also, remeber, if you get it relashed, the truck has to relearn your driving habits, so get after it a few times as it relearns.

Then he offers me 40 dollars out of his pocket to help pay for the bill and i said im not paying one dime. The manager is gonna drive it today, so we'll see.

About 4000 miles later with no problems merging into traffic now.

Give him the exact # and see if he falls. I gave my dealer this morning the # and it feels like he's gonna reflash it. HE called and offered me a rental but i declined. He said he was gonna charge ford for it anyway. What a load of BS. He wont charge ford for warranty work but will charge for use of a rental when i dont even use it. IM still not paying a dime.
Sorry about your dealer not treating you right, but you can find some good ones. So far I have took my truck in two times and left it on weekends to have work done the following week and have got brand new trucks from the lot every time to drive back home.
As long as you are still under your factory warranty...you don't owe them a penny. It must have been all that playing dumb. You played dumb and they took you for a fool and tried to stick you for a bill. See what being nice at the dealerships will do for you.
When I took my previous cars in, I tell them exactly what is going on and what needs to be done to fix it. And I make sure I drive the truck around so I can reproduce the problem. This is only if I can't fix the problem myself.

Man I hate to read these threads. I've been at one of the "good" dealerships for sixteen years now and we just don't have these kind of service problems. I really can't believe the way some of these places are run. When we get a customer in with a tough problem and they are mad at their truck we tell them we are mad at it also. That usually ends up in a lot of back slapping and
and then we fix it!
and then we fix it!

I ain't saying what that guy's dealership did was right, but given the recent changes to Ford's warranty policy guide, I can understand where they're coming from. Once more: If there's no specific TSB for a PCM recalibration, Ford will not reimburse the dealership for it. Admittedly, his dealer didn't do their job properly, checking for any applicable TSBs 'cause I'm sure there's one or two that can be used on '05s for warranty PCM recals. Just 'cause his dealer sucks doesn't mean they all do.

Also Quintin, Thanks for all your inputs on the forum.
