I think thats the one I gave to the dealer last week and they said that was for the 3-2 down shift clunk. I have to check my paper work.

Yes, you are correct, but as I understand it, it fixes the lag as well. I think I would offer to pay for the reflash and see what happens. Also, remeber, if you get it relashed, the truck has to relearn your driving habits, so get after it a few times as it relearns.

They did reflash it and the only thing that happen was now I get a hesitation before the engine revs and goes nowhere. If thats the tsb I hope they come out with another one soon. I dont even want to put my kids in the truck because its not safe. Im lucky my wife has an 05 Tahoe for the kids and that is a rocket compared to my truck.

It was very simple when I had it done. I went into the dealership, talked about the symtoms (lagging throttle and 2-3 clunk), and asked to run the VIN# through to see if there was a fix. This TSB came up, and it was done. I also experienced a little lag here and there for about 10 days after the reflash, but was a new truck on day 11. About 4000 miles later with no problems merging into traffic now.

I would call Ford and complain. Its under warranty, so why in the world would you need to pay ANYTHING?

I talked to two different dealers and they said there is no tsb on it or any codes coming up. I explain to one dealer that im not looking for a race truck, im just looking to be safe. This is my first Ford truck and Im not to happy. I talked to a guy in the service department with an 05 Navigator and he was complaining about his truck had less then 3k miles and he had a list off problems, why does these trucks have a list of problems brand new. Ford needs to step up and address these problems.

Give him the exact # and see if he falls. I gave my dealer this morning the # and it feels like he's gonna reflash it. HE called and offered me a rental but i declined. He said he was gonna charge ford for it anyway. What a load of BS. He wont charge ford for warranty work but will charge for use of a rental when i dont even use it. IM still not paying a dime.

Sorry about your dealer not treating you right, but you can find some good ones. So far I have took my truck in two times and left it on weekends to have work done the following week and have got brand new trucks from the lot every time to drive back home.

As long as you are still under your factory warranty...you don't owe them a penny. It must have been all that playing dumb. You played dumb and they took you for a fool and tried to stick you for a bill. See what being nice at the dealerships will do for you.

When I took my previous cars in, I tell them exactly what is going on and what needs to be done to fix it. And I make sure I drive the truck around so I can reproduce the problem. This is only if I can't fix the problem myself.

Man I hate to read these threads. I've been at one of the "good" dealerships for sixteen years now and we just don't have these kind of service problems. I really can't believe the way some of these places are run. When we get a customer in with a tough problem and they are mad at their truck we tell them we are mad at it also. That usually ends up in a lot of back slapping and and then we fix it!

After reading crap like that, I sometimes wonder why I bother helping folks here.

I ain't saying what that guy's dealership did was right, but given the recent changes to Ford's warranty policy guide, I can understand where they're coming from. Once more: If there's no specific TSB for a PCM recalibration, Ford will not reimburse the dealership for it. Admittedly, his dealer didn't do their job properly, checking for any applicable TSBs 'cause I'm sure there's one or two that can be used on '05s for warranty PCM recals. Just 'cause his dealer sucks doesn't mean they all do.

I have to drive passed two/three dealerships to bring my truck to a dealer that I feel is honest.

Unfortunately, like so many other things, it's the negative experiences that people talk so much about. My service dept (which I did not buy the vehicle from) has been outstanding every time I've had to take the truck back in. I never play dumb, but I do give the service advisor the chance to do his job and he hasn't let me down yet. I don't like people telling me how to do my job and I assume most people are the same way. I try to educate myself on issues with the truck but I've never had to tell them anything. BTW, it's Sunset Ford on W. Bell Rd in Peoria, AZ.

Also Quintin, Thanks for all your inputs on the forum.

The guy told me there is nothing for the fuel mileage that im getting which is way below what it should be (10-12 highway) and then charged b/c the tech couldnt feel the vibration. He said ford would not pay him b/c he did no warranty work. Well, he drove it and it took me 4 times to point it out to him before he finally caved and said he felt the vibration. So now i see no need to pay and didnt see the need at first either. I think he's somehow in a bind cuz he offered 40 bucks of his own money. I dunno but we will see tomorrow.
