18's or 20's?

I'm having a hard time deciding. I want an aggressive look but don't want the tires to stick out too far. I like 20's but I've heard that my truck would ride better on 18's with 32-33's. I have the factory 18" FX4 wheels/BFG stockers now and a 2.5" Autospring. What do you guys with these setups suggest? (I'm guessing guys with 20's will say 20's and same with guys with 18's.) Is $2800 about right for 20's and tires? Thanks!

With your leveling kit, I'd suggest a 325/60-18 (33x13.00) tire on an 18x9 inch wheel (5 or 5 1/2 inches of backspacing). I've seen this combo on a couple of 4x4's with leveling kits and it looks great. It's all about what you want however. Personally, I'd want at least a 35 inch tall tire with 20's (speaking strictly about off road style tires).

I off course would go with 22s but for me bigger is better. As for the 18s riding better with 32-33s...I would have to hear the logic behind that. I can see how some would think that a street tire on a 24in rim would have a bad ride because of the short sidewall (which is totally false), but you would think with as much side wall as the 33s will offer and extra 1in of sidewall wouldnt make much difference at all in ride. Surely there would be as much sidewall on a 33 with a 20in rim as there is on factory tires with 18in rims. I would think the 20s would handle better though since there would be less sidewall flex in turns.

18s.

Check out my gallery for when I had my 2.5" leveling kit and 33s.

I would pick out an 18X9 with 5 1/2' backspacing so they don't stick out.

Will they rub on my Husky mud flaps?

Umm, you have 32's now. The 275-65-18's are equal to a 32 inch tall tire.

I agree. I went looking at tires and came home with new tires AND wheels. oops. Anyway I bought 20's and my tire size is 285/55/20. I like a little more sidewall than I have with the setup I have now. I wish I would have kept my stock 18 wheels. When the tires wear out I am going to either get 35's or get smaller wheels and stick with 33's. Live and learn I guess.
I paid $1800 for everything and traded in my stock wheels and tires. MB Offroad gunner 6 wheels and BFG A/T KO tires.

I prefer the offroad look, and Love my 18's.

My setup is 325/60/18 Toyo Open Country A/T, Eagle Alloy series 178 18'" with 5" backspacing, and 2.5" autospring kit.

I got the stock Ford 20's on my 06 and it doesn't look to bad but I think I might switch to 18's in the future. I like a little more sidewall look on my tires then the 20's give me. At this time the truck is stock but in the future I plan on adding either a leveling kit for the front or maybe a 3" or 4" suspension left. Not sure yet.

Umm, I know that but I don't have 20's to compare the ride to.

Thumper, do you have any pics of how much it sticks out? What is your backspacing? Thanks!
