Which hands free prep harness to get?

I ordered a Motorola IHF1000 hands free cell car kit. There is a prep harness which you can get which allows it interface with the factory audiophile 6-cd HU. Question is, which harness? the link below shows two different ones, one with a molex connector and one with a tyco connector, both for the 2004 F-150. How do I know which one to order?
Also, I had the deck out today to look at the connections, where does this harness plug into? Does the prep harness plug into the deck, then the factory harness into the prep harness (in series)? There are no extra places on the deck to plug into.

http://www.fordgenuineaccessory.com/..._Harness.4.htm

Anyone have a pic of this harness, can't seem to find one.

Thanks

Good question. I would think the molex since it is showing 04 and 05.

I did not know they had a harness for such. I did mine the hard way.

The window antenna makes a big difference in signal.

It's a Molex connector. It's nice having the harness since the handsfree installation was relatively harmless, and it will help many car kits integrate into the factory radio. My IHF1000 automatically mutes the radio and plays through the sound system instead of requiring an external speaker with this harness to splice into.

Lariat, I see that you have the Motorola handsfree that I had in the '97 Mountaineer. I decided to leave it in the Mounty when dad bought it since he needed that handsfree anyway. The bluetooth kit in my F-150 is nice, but I do have to remember to charge my phone once a day; otherwise the phone will start beeping on me while I sleep. As for the antenna, I recently found somewhere an adapter that will plug into the antenna port on the back of cellphones with the port, such as my Motorola V551, so that those of us without the wired handsfree setup can get that extra boost. I've already spent enough money on the truck for now, so I'll have to wait until either bonus or tax refund time.

Thanks, connector ordered.
I just finished installing my wired Wilson 3watt booster/antenna, a cell phone bracket and magnetic clip for the phone to attach to it. When I get the hands free kit installed, I will post pics of the whole setup, it'll be very clean. By the way, I was testing my booster today in a remote area, w/o booster, 1-2 bars, with the booster, 4-5 bars. I drove through a couple of deep valleys where it would always drop the call, but with the booster, no problem.

I'm thinking of going with this same set-up. Do you have any pics of the Ford Cell Phone Prep Harness? I'm trying to see how that would connect to the IHF-1000. Do you have to do a lot of soldering or is it truly "plug and play?"

BigTRQ, this is copied from another thread.

Sorry guys... real life stepped in for a while there and my pos digital camera is down. So here goes... the harness has 2 male and 2 female connectors for the radio and radio harness and 5 bare wires. The diagram from Ford is as follows. wire#1 ground ,
I should have the harness in a couple of days and will get pics of the install.

Yeah, I need to take some photos, but I've been either too busy or too lazy to take the dash apart to take the photos. I was too eager to get the stuff working to remember to take pictures while I was working.

Hey jljue, how does the ihf 1000 sound? Can you give us a little review? Is it obvious that you are on hands free from the other end?

It sounds fine going through the sound system in the truck, but the people on the other end say that I'm anywhere from clear to in a tunnel. I think that part of my problem is the carrier, which in my case is Cingular. I have my microphone mount on the dash above and to the side of one the A/C vents in the middle, so that might be a problem. At the time I didn't feel like messing with taking the Passenger A-pillar apart to route the mic up the overhead console.

Either way, others can hear me, and I don't have to hold my phone in my hand with something hanging in or on my ear.

I have an '05 F150 with the factory 6 disc/mp3 in-dash changer. I want to install either the motorola or parrot bluetooth car kit and I need to know what harness / adapter to get and where can I find it. I keep getting different answers from installers in my area and the bottom line is that they have never done one. I want to use the trucks audio speakers instead of a little 5 watt add-on that motorola uses.

I would think you will also need this same adapter that I posted the link to above. I ordered the molex adapter from my local dealer for $50CDN, it hasn't come in yet though.

Yeah, you should be able to order it through the dealer although I wish it was an in-stock item since it's sad that handsfree cellphone use hasn't caught on like it should be. You can also sometimes find it on e-bay; that's where I got mine.

jljue,

Gotten around to taking those pics yet? It'd be great if we could have those to see what we're dealing with.

No, unfortunately, I've been busy working on either my house or a friends house, working on church media projects, and working 11-12 hours a night at work. It's been so bad that I check out this site maybe once every 2-3 days, if I'm lucky.

It's starting to llook like I won't have to go to work between Christmas and New Years for Christmas shutdown since I can get my projects done before Christmas Eve, so if you can wait until the week between Christmas and New Years, I promise that I can make some good pictures for you.

Here is the Ford hands free prep harness. I included a bunch of pics in my gallery as well of the install including the Motorola IHF1000 car kit. The wiring is very easy. Most of it is plug in with the exception of the constant power wire of the car kit which I wired to the constant power of the cd player.
