I have a question about my gas tank, 2005 Lariat with the 35.7 gallona tank. Isn't there supposed to be a spring loaded flap of metal that covers up the fill opening? My wife's car has one, my mom's car has one, etc... I don't recall ever noticing if one was there or not. My horn stoped working (that's a BIG deal in NJ) so I have to take the truck in to the dealer anyway. I was just wondering if something is missing.

Nope, not on the '04+ F150.

 

I have a 2004 Lariat Supercrew with a 30 gallon tank with no cover on the fuel opening Also you will notice the fuel door is plastic no light under hood At least my 98 XLT SUPERCAB had a cover on the fuel opening,fuel door was metal and it had a light under the hood

 

No spring loaded metal flapper thing in mine either....'05 XLT...27gal tank. I don't have the under hood light either...also noticed that there isn't that padding on the bottom side of the hood that's on most vehicles.

 

I think the padding is on LARIAT and FX4
models I have it on mine

 

True, however Im pretty sure they got rid of it and it was only for 04s.

Hmm, maybe Im wrong. I could of swore that someone said they stoped using them on the MY05s+ but maybe that was for everything but Lariat and FX4. I don't really know, can someone clear it up?

 

yea, thump there was a big thread on this maybe 3-5 mos ago, everyone kinda came to the conlclusion that the a wide range of 04's had it, but in 05, only lariat, fx4, kr have it-

I think I tarted that thread. Actually some '05 XLT's have it too. I had this discussion with a couple of dealers. Some trucks have it, some don't. There isn't a specific trim or anything like that. It's weird. It's just whether or not your truck got it on the assembly line.

 

Funny thing about Ford is that for whatever reason, they seem to gradually decontent vehicles as the product line goes on. A few little things that's optional on, for instance, '06 Lariats was standard on the '04s.

 

05 KR... I don't think I have one... can't go check until Saturday.
