Many of us like to personalize our rides. Others just like to tinker.

Modifing cars, from choping and channeling, adding better sound, custom paint, adding horsepower, etc. are what many American men do. And have done since the Flathead V8 days.

This is a forum for F150 new models, it's the place guys who do this hang out.

I hope you got a new lower valance too (knowing you probably got the HD lower), because they are different between the 04/05s and the 06s. I bought one off of an 06 on Ebay and it wouldnt fit right....the little indentions were the tow hooks go are angled different. I still have it if you need it....what are you going to do with your 05 bumper (black would sure look good on mine!)

I know that, I'm the same way. I'm just wanted to know why he would go to all that trouble when he could have just bought the truck with the center console. I'm thinking about buying a new 2006 and I can't decide between the bench or bucket and console myself. Thats why I'm asking. Was the bench seat that bad?

There is nothing wrong with the bench seat. But the buckets with flow-thru console is just so damn cool. No other truck has anything like it. Especially on the Lariat package it looks so classy.

I wanted the 40/20/40 in my truck, the flow thru looks nicer in my opinion though. I like having the extra seat and leg room on the side by my legs. Complete preference on the buyers parts though.

Wow....this thread is a blast from the past! Can't believe ten years have gone by!

Still have my truck to this day and love it now as much if not more than the day I brought her home

In answering your question while adding to DSG's response...yes, in order to achieve a desired factory finish, I had to swap to a dashboard proprietary to the factory console/floorshift option. It's not mandatory as the difference is purely aesthetic having no impact on functionality only leaving an incomplete look.

I hope that adds to your question. Good luck going forward and had a lot of fun as I went through the project myself.

No kidding, I actually said the same thing "blast from the past" when I saw this thread resurface.

FWIW I also did a shifter conversion in my 2003, it took a bit more for it to play nice with my truck. Just pointing out that anything is possible.
