you will notice the cab ( driving position ) in the 04 is smaller than your 00.. I'm 6ft 4...my 97 reg cab had all kinds of room...Door arm rests are way to low, I hit them with my knee, If your looking at an xl, you should be ok ( my xlt has pw pdl pw m )
go for a 5.4, ride and handeling have greatly improved, you will just to drive the 04 on a good test drive, My truck has had brake issues, all coverd under warenty...

I have the truck you are considering. The only problem I have encountered was clutch pack and a whine in the rear that took a couple of tries for them to repair. You will be much happier with the 04 because you can carry your groceries and luggage inside and the ride and noise level is much better. You will also find the turning circle is very good with the regular cab (and I assume short bed). I took off to replace my Toyota T-100 with a Tundra and came home with a F150 and have not regreted it at all.

I've got the same truck. The only problem I had was the rear end. The 3.73 with Limited Slip has had some issues. But if you drive it and don't notice any unusual whine or howl from the rear end you're probably okay. Get the 5.4L if you can. Good luck.

I have the two wheel drive 4.6 reg cab. On a regular cab the power is much better with the little engine than on the Screws and Scabs. With the 3.73 gears you will have plenty of power for normal driving. If you mod the exhaust ad pick up a tuner you would be quite happy with the smaller, less buggy 4.6.

Not stepping on anyones toes, but follow the cam phaser, rattle, and spark plug threads. None of that applys to the 4.6.
And with a tuner and exhaust it gets pretty close to the stock 5.4 performance.
Best of luck with whatever truck you get.
Chris
