Dissapointment in the Screw
I had about 15 ft of distance from the post to the back of the truck. Also, the cable that we were using seemed to have a little springiness (is that a word) in it. Luckily, I only had to replace the gate and nothing else. My father always gets a kick out of other's misfortune. Get-r-done!
I watched the neighbor yanking poles with his 4x4 2500 Chevy big block truck. It was very entertaining. He was using the 'leave some slack and gun it' method. He got out ten poles, and blew his transmission. Couldn't even move it around the yard, they had to bring out a wrecker to take it to the shop.
A ten dollar block and tackle would do the same job with no damage to the truck...

Shame really.
I did sit in the front and watch him. I told my wife it would be worth seeing,
but by the time she came out to enjoy the idiot he wasn't moving anymore...
The last pole you could hear his engine going about 4 grand even before the truck started moving...

you guys better be careful, when that rigging breaks, it can come flying back through your window/windshield and possibly kill you. I've seen it happen to workers in the Mining industry.

be careful, You'll shoot your eye out!
I had the same problem at home...had some old wooden posts, but they broke off near the ground when pulling them. Dug down about a foot and put a tow strap around them and they wouldn't budge. All it took was to dig out a little bit in the direction that I was going to pull them so they could "tip" and they practically jumped out of the ground using 4-Lo.

Just kiddin...hehe.
