Ford's About To Piss Me Off
Ok guys..........need to rant & rave for a bit here.
History.........04 SCAB purchased in March 05 (killer deal  ).....truck has 11,000 miles on it & the front tires are cupped on the insides to the point where the threads are showing thru........truck also pulls to the right. Goto my local dealership & the service rep gives me a line about "Someone's not rotating thier tires." I told him "BS...I rotate my tires every oil change." "Do you have receipts?" "No", I told him, "I'm not gonna pay you guys $50 just to rotate my tires" He tells me that the "Ford Factory Rep" comes in on Mondays & he/she has to approve the warranty work for my tires. Tells me he will call me on Monday when the rep is there. What is the purpose of the service writer if he can't authorize warranty work? I came home & did some research & found out that Ford has changed the warranty on our tires from 12,000 to 36,000, so if I have only 11k on the tires, shouldn't they be warrantied no questions asked. Thing that pissed me off the most is I've got a 6 month old truck w/ tires showing steel belts & the service writer sends me on the road w/ the truck in that condition!!! What's my next option if Ford "decides" to not warranty my tires?? I wasn't a big Ford fan before I bought my F150 & if this is the way they treat thier owners, they're leaving a really bad taste in my mouth. Thanks for letting me rant & I do appreciate any help I can get.... I think I need a beer.................or 30 :beers: |

erick_e ford explicitly states to NOT to have their information availible for public use
I'm glad your "trying" to help someone out, but now this guy is going to piss off his service advisor after he prints this out and shows it to him. |

That's copyrighted stuff as well...Ford doesn't really care if you distribute it in paper form, but they may get their panties in a wad if it's distributed electronically, such as on here. Been there, done that, got the lectures from higher powers.
Sounds like your beef is with your dealer, not necessarily Ford; your dealer is probably afraid that they may get charged back if they replace your tires. Under warranty, from time to time Ford calls for the defective parts to inspect them, and if it's deemed by Ford that the parts replaced were unnecessary, they won't pay for the warranty claim and the dealer will be ass outta luck. This also raises the dealer's 126 report to where, worst case, a warranty audit may be launched against that dealer. Audits are bad news. |
This is why this place rocks!!!!! :bows:
Now I have my ammo & gun loaded & am ready to go "postal" on the dealership!!! :rocker: Thanks again & it's time for "free" new tires & an alignment at least!! |

It's reasons like this POS service writer that I'm glad I have access to this info. He told me he could sell me "new" tires at a discounted cost. Imagine if I was the gulliable old lady....... |
Don't fly off the handle with your dealer just yet; like I said, dealers are held on a very tight leash by Ford. They probably want to help you, but given Ford's tendency to charge back whatever they can to dealers as of late, they've got good reason to worry about getting smacked for a set of tires. Put yourself in the dealer principal's shoes.

The last thing I want to do, is piss of Ford or put F150online in a bad situation. cough, email, cough if you need more info..

Ok guys, I just want to clear some things up.
First off, I work as a Tire Distributer for a company here in Ohio who sells more tires to ford for there dealers in a year then any other suppler in the country. (last year over 36,000 units, this year looks to close in on 45,000). Anyways Ford has what is called "Around The Wheel" It is a special program setup directly from Ford with Good Year, BFG, General, ect. With this program any dealer who partakes in it gets there tires at program prices which is well under normal cost. This is because when a dealer here calls us for a tire, we ship it to them, and bill FoMoCo. Ford will then process the orders and bill there dealers. This works out for everyone because dealers can get tires for less, and ford sets costs so you can buy tires for less from your dealer. In the case of a warentee issue such as this, Your dealer should only have to order and replace your tires. They then need to send the old ones back to ford for a warentee credit. Only one time in the last year have I saw ford not cover a tire from a F-150, and thats because the owner drove it flat and the dealer was dumb enough to not see this and replaced his tire. Sounds like your trouble is a **** of a service man. I would go to another dealer if it keeps up. |

So I went to a different dealer and they replaced them no questions asked. It all depends on how many warranty repairs that specific dealer turns in, if Ford thinks it is too many then they start making it difficult for that specific dealer to perform the warranty work. This info. came from the service guy that did all my other repairs. |
