THANK YOU!! Finally, after years of asking the question, I have gotten an educated explanation. I knew all I had to do was ask the right people!

I don't mean to bash people with lifts, cause if that's your cup of tea and you have the money, then more power to you. But I'm taking a stand.

I'M NOT GOING TO LIFT MY TRUCK AND I'M PROUD! WHO'S WITH ME?
Dem sound like fightin' words

But to be honest, there are always going to be people who don't like your ride, no need to call on a cult, it ain't gonna stop'em.

Yep, this is correct. Although alot of the trucks around here it has become a fad. The younger guys will only lift the front end and extend the front wheel track. Extending the front wheel track helps give more travel in the front suspension. More travel...softer landing.

Anyway, it is a pre-runner set up used for those who really want to make use of their truck and jump it. Not too many new trucks...usually older beaters. It is definately a SoCal thing.

I like the look if it is a subtle one. I have my coilovers crank down an inch so my front end sits a bit higher. Although I don't jump my truck, she does see her share of offroad. Yes, I'm a bit more cautious at first, heck...she still has that new truck smell.

One last thing...too everyone, I don't care what you do to your truck...stock, lowered or lift. Just be happy it is a FORD!

Amen brother! The dealer gave me a Silverado to drive around while they fixed my truck. What a POS!

I don't mind the lifted trucks....but I really mind it when some dip***** lowers his 4x4....some tard that goes to the university here in Edwardsville has a brand new FX4 and has lowered it to the point that the rear gear box barely touches the ground.....again....what a dip*****......

I personally have put ALOT of thought into what direction I wanted to go with my truck.. Its a regular cab 2wd.

At first, I wanted to raised it... 3" SkyJacker Lift.. Nothing too radical..

I was dead set on doing it... Then I asked myself seriously "Why?"

98% of my driving is on blacktop. And when I do go offroad, its just to go out fishing or hunting, or camping... NOTHING that i actually NEED ground clearance for. And lifting it just for looks seemed just plain dumb to ME.

So now, I plan on lowering it just a tad more. I already have lowering shackles.. plan on doing the entire drop soon... 3 front/5rear.

Weigh it out....

Lift= Worse handling
Lower= Better handling

Lift is more expensive...

Lowering is less wear and tear on drivetrain. Lowering it will make it easier to get stuff out of the bed of my truck... which I use VERY frequently.

Lift means you really need bigger tires to make it look right.. that = more money for rubber+slower acceleration+worse MPG= No Brainer to me.

Just my 2 cents.

It all comes down to what you need your truck for and how you use it.

If I didn't go offroad as much as I do and lived in the city, I would of got a 2WD truck and lowered it, no doubt.

My 150 is not getting lifted, just leveled I think. It will get 285s soon because the 255s look waaaay to small but Im not going to lift a truck that I load crap into the bed all the time.

Its dark now but tommarow if I remember I will take a pic of my truck. The bed is filled with big rocks for some landscaping I am doing for a neighbor. Its squatting down a good bit but loading it empty it sits high enough as is. Why lift rocks higher?

As for lowered trucks. Thats what my ranger is for. It was low, now its high, next year its going to be low once again now that I have the fiddy to drive in the snow. Its nice haveing a sporty truck in the summer.
