PCM Update for Trucks built before 5/13/2005
I'm glad you guys are getting your truck flashed. I have a 8/8/05 build date and I doubt they will do anything for me. But the key is nobody knows if my pcm wasn't sitting in a parts bin since jan or something.
I have a build date of 8/05 and they flashed my last weekend.. What a difference.....

you would think one or maybe two, but it seems like there is a constant flow of updates.

I just read a bulletin that stated no more PCM recalibrations unless there's a specific TSB for a complaint you're experiencing. So, if you thought it was hard to get a reflash before...
with this web site there are no secrets. once one guy goes in for a reflash he posts why he got it and then the rst of us go in using the same reason.
most of the dealers cant duplicate what we complain about when its legit and just shotgun it.

Here is what the reciept reads:
EEC TEST, PINPOINT TEST, REPROGRAM PCM TO LASTEST CALIBARATION
12650D EEC (QUICKTEST) - dIAGNOSIS - L
12650D84 PCM REPROGRAMMING- TEST (RECAL) -L
12650DX1 EEC (QUICKTEST) - DIAGNOSIS - L EXTRA
I HOPE THIS HELPS.... CAN SOMEONE DECIFER WHAT THEY DID?

12650D is the labor op for hooking your truck up to the diagnostic tool and seeing if any DTCs are present.
12650D84 is the op for reprogramming the PCM itself; this operation is no longer valid. 12650D84 is just a general across the board op for reprogramming a PCM. Now, the operations for reprogramming a PCM are in the TSB itself so they can individualize recalibrations to different vehicle lines, instead of having one generic labor op for PCM reprogramming.
12650DX1 is for retesting after initial testing or reprogramming, usually includes roadtesting and rechecking for DTCs.

Would FC: D13 42 mean anything?

I’ve always thought that my truck was lagging at take off and passing. I drive in city and rarely get it over 45. Seems to build high RPMs (no tach to check though) before moving much. Same with passing. Seems almost like transmission slipping a little.
Since this is the first big truck I’ve owned I thought it was the way it was built; gear set up and all. What do I know right? Read all the “reflash” posts here and started wondering if I had a problem.
I dropped it off at the dealer 7:00am Wed morning (10-12-05) and finally got a hold of the advisor around 2:30pm. He said that the tech had driven it and noticed the same thing I did. They ran out of time and wanted to keep it overnight. I have a feeling they put mine in the “this can wait line since he’s at work all day” and didn’t expect it to take too long. Called the advisor back mid day Thursday. They had found nothing out of norm during diagnostics. Everything within spec and had the latest software updates. Two techs (engine guy and tranny guy) took it out for at least 25 miles of city driving and was unable to duplicate the problem again. They drove a new truck off the lot and said it performed the same.
Advisor told me that it’s an adaptive transmission and adjusts to the way you drive. They drove it twice. He said it only takes a few times to adjust.
I picked it up Thursday night and it actually seemed a little better. That doesn’t make sense though, all they did was drive it around for an hour. Maybe I'm just freaking out.
Well at least I got my one and only free oil change. And I had them check out the third brake light to make sure I had the good seal. He said I got the new one. I noticed that now there’s something between the light cover and seal (from a tree) so I have to take it off myself and get that out.
It's always a hassle dealing with any dealers - Example: The service department closes at 7pm and it’s usually past that when I get back into town (from work) so they were suppose to leave it in front of the dealership with my papers and keys inside (I had my spare). When I got there (7:30) no truck. The salesman that I bought the truck from (didn't remember me at first) helped me find it – in the back lot with the keys in the ignition. Another 30 minutes and I would have been waiting another day for it. Plus they didn’t put the papers for the oil change so I have to go back tomorrow and get the cashier to run another set.
So I’m going to drive it around for a week or so, maybe head up to Mt. Rainer and see what it does.
