I was flashed with 4U7A-12A650-GRA on May 31, 2005 per TSB 04-12-14.

Good luck, when mine was done, their computer locked up and they had to keep my truck over night(from Sat till Mon) till they could get an upgrade from Ford. Had to give me a loaner, but it was worth the hassle. All the difference in the world, like a different truck.

My 05 screw 4X4 had the reflash today and it was an amazing difference.
no more clunk and better throttle response

build date was feb 05.

I wish they could just get rid of the road vibration thru the steering wheel.

They did road force balance today no change.

Mine too! Build date of 7/05. Crappy gas mileage 10-11 mpg, and it boggs down in turns...Dealer wouldn't re-flash. I pointed out the re-flash for the 04's and that is what he said "it pertains to the 04 and not the 05".

Regards!

It might help to show your dealer a copy of the TSB provided by CarlJ in a previous post in this thread. The TSB definitely pertains to the 2005 models (although it is apparently limited to vehicles built before 4/20/05, so you may still be out of luck).

I made an appointment for Friday at my dealership (my build date is 4/4/05, and my truck has all the symptoms addressed by the TSB). Unfortunately, I got the sense from the service writer that Ford is making it tougher for dealerships to justify the reflash as warranty work.

I have a 2004 FX4 SCab, do you know if I will need the PCM update for mine? And if so, where do I find the build date for the truck?

It's on your door sticker on the end of the drivers side door. It sounds like all 04 models are covered by the TSB if your truck has the symptoms, take it in to the dealer.

You have to have the TSB with you, but first complain of the exact items that are on the TSB. Also, I found it helps if this is your second request for a reflash, to go to another dealership. They are EXTREMELY difficult to get a reflash out of under warranty. Supposeably it is because Ford is making it difficult to claim that warranty work.

Why is Ford considering or making it difficult to reflash without warranty? Like it what, takes 5 minutes to do? What am I missing here? I'm gonna reflash my build date 1/05, 2005 5.4. I have lags and clunks and crappy mileage as well. My truck gets the same highway mileage as my V10 excursion

The key is to complain. Ford won't fix it unless there is a problem that you have with it. I told them that there was no take off, a lck of throttle response when passing at around 25mph and 55mph. I also said there was such a bad lag during shifting I would actually loose speed. All this pretty much was true, just not as bad as I made it sound. After the update, it was like a new truck. Better gas mileage too, and the exguast was louder also. I have a 05 5.4L with a build date of 03/05. The sticker that the dealer put under the hood was:
PCM Reprogrammed: 5L3A-12A650-C1B
TSB AUTHORITY: 05-10-02

I complained about the lag when trying to pass another vehicle. Told the service manager that it was going to get me killed. He jumped right on it.
