dump valve exhaust

i did my searching, found some info, but i still have a question, it was sorta answered on a really old post, but figured i wouldnt get an answer seeing as how it was way back there.

Anyway, i have an 05 5.4, im runnin an electronic exhaust cut out, havent had any problems yet, but im worried about back preasure and burrning up my motor. if i leave it open, will it eventually burn up my motor over time or do the cats provide enough backpreasure to keep my engine safe

Asinatra, I believe he is referring to some straightpiped vehicles that end up with burned and ticking valves after many thousands of miles. I would guess that driving around every day with it open all the time would be detrimental to the life of your engine. I don't think anyone would do that all the time though, in which case you're fine.

exhaust

I think he is referring to a lean condition because of the open exhaust. I think the cat's should be enough, but you will lose low end horsepower and torque when just cruising. Open exhaust is better suited for WOT operations. Just my 02. I'd like to hear how it sounds. Must be pretty loud.
